This weekend went down to the farmstead in big Marlow America. Son and i got up early on Saturday and went down to the pond. I caught a bass...let my son reel in...caught another...son reeled in but got off...then my boy caught his own. He was using a rebel crickohopper (thought was really early to use it but he wanted to use it..worked) i was using a Mepps Aglia #2 (touch small) dressed w/ gold blade. Sons rig was a rhino tuff 33 combo and mine was a Shimano Calcutta 200 w/ a Falcon Cara 7ft flippin rod.

Later my dad and i went back...i caught 2 more bass and 2 double fist sized perch (ok slang for bluegill) and dad caught 2 bass and one perch. Great day. The bass were smaller males guarding the beds...was uber fun and it was a great way to break a 2 year involuntary abstinence!

Watch yourself. Fishing is addictive. I sometimes try to hang up the rods for a month or so but then I get the urge again.

Outdoor crack cocaine is what i call it. I have always loved it. Before i moved from the farmstead i spent a good 200 days a year on the water... now... like you can see...dont get that opportunity.

Great stuff! Watching your boy catch his 1st bass must have been a proud moment!

Was cool...he's is kinda seasoned tho...

Dang...caught my first fish at 13. And it was way smaller than that. Very good, fishing is an awesome sport. You can't take a bullet out of a deer, but you can take a hook out of a fish.

I agree...i cant hunt.just cant do it. but fishing..different story! Little guy has been going w/ me fishing since he was old enough to walk...he's 8.5 now :)

Good to see you back out again, 2yrs no fishing jeez......

Busted my hump doing 11 hr days mon and tues so I only had 2 hrs of work yesterday.
Put my packrod and gear in the work truck and played hookey for 4hrs getting paid to fish. The lake was 45min from the warehouse I was servicing but 2hrs from my house.

First fishing this spring, caught a 13in cutthroat with a bobber and a redbacked pheasant tail nymph.
Lost 2 and had a nice 3lb or so rainbow follow a little roostertail 3 times but would not take.
Have to bring a little inflatable next time, I hate fishing from a lakeshore.

Going to try to do this once or twice a month if I can.
