I finally took the big plunge today and ordered the Spyderco Military in Plainedge, and the Spydercard in 50/50!!

This weekend, I will also be picking up a Native that I saw at a local trade mart. I was able to talk that vendor down from $45 to $35 for that semi-used Native, but I wanted to do some research into that GIN-1 steel. I know it's an older model, but at $35 I think it's a steal. :D :D :D These additions will bring my Spydie collection to five and counting........

  That Spydie bug has bit me hard!!!!

Waiting is the hardest part.

I just got a military PE myself. The only bad thing about it is that I have not carried anything else sence I got it.

The Military is probably my favorite Spyderco knife, I've really enjoyed mine. I still think it has the best ergonomics of practically any folder I've seen. CPM-440V is probably my favorite steel, and will hold a good edge for a long, long time. I think you will be very pleased.

How do you guys like the liner lock on your Military? I'm sure its well implemented, given that the manufacturer is Spyderco. I'm curious how well it has stood up over time.

I've had mine for at least 1.5 years, and I havn't had any problems with the lock. When I first got it, I tested it by doing the spine whack test numerous times with a good amount of force. (Did this with my Starmate to...same results) It never did unlock. I also tried doing the torque test, which it also passed. I've used my Military every day since receiving it without failure.

I really trust Spyderco liner locks, they are one of the few companies that do them correctly. I especially like the eccentric pivot. You have absolutely nothing to worry about.

I have a feeling that once I receive that Military, I won't be carrying anything else either. Except maybe for work, when I'll have my Endura SE with me also. You never know when you may need that Spyderedge.

It's funny. When I bought my Delica, I carried it everywhere with me, it never left my side. UNTIL I bought my Endura. Now this knife is both my work and non-work everday carry. But that Military, I think, will be the ultimate for EDC. ;) Kind of what the dealer catalog says, "this is the ultimate survival knife for the backwood boonies or the concrete jungle."

Makes me wonder if I'll ever carry that Native.

It's been a few days, but this past weekend I bought that used Native 35/65 that I mentioned earlier. Price was $45, but I talked the guy down to $30!!!!

What do I think about it? It hasn't left my side since I got it! For being used, it still has a solid lockup, and the versatility with that combo edge blade...WOW. The only problem that I found was the partially serrated edge. It seems that the previous owner had used a V-type sharpener on the edge..  The serration tips are not in BAD shape, just not as in great a shape as my Endura and Delica.

I got a call today from Spyderco, and the regrinding will only be $5!! Along with the shipping charge, my total expense will be only $10. My Native will soon be on the way to the factory to be born again. :D

As a Spydie addict, it was very difficult to order a Sharpmaker today. I really, no I mean REALLY, wanted to spend the money on a new Spyderco knife instead of blowing it on a sharpener. Urgh!!

Ahhh, but that sharpener is by Spyderco, too. And you'll be very happy with it, and the results you can get using it.

Because of the price, it took me a while before I broke down and bought the 204. But to this day, I think that it was a very wise decision and I don't regret it one bit.

I don't use anything else to sharpen my Spydies. ;)
