So with the help of many of you guys here I have finished a blade that I feel best represents my abilities. I am thrilled with it. I have posted some pictures along the way but it is finally ready to go. The blade pictured is my personal one. It has been tested extensively and I am very happy with what I have created. The etch is a little off but it was my first with my etcher so the ones that followed are crystal clear...

1095 spring steel .200 at spine 4.5 inch blade
Cocobolo scales 4.75 inch handle
Stainless hardware
Black G10 liners

Similar blades will be available for sale as soon as I purchase my knife makers subscription.

Nice knife. Excellent first knife!!!:thumbup::thumbup:

I like to place the thong tube in the lower part of the bird's head, but that is personal taste.

Can't tell from the photos, but make sure the top of the handle is rounded and not flat.

.200 is a bit thick for a 4.5" blade. Try .165 next time, or even .125. You will find that the knife is much lighter and cuts better. Most of my 4.5" blades are between .100 and .125 .

The handle could be a bit shorter. If it was 4.5", the knife would look more balanced. Most first knives have a way too big handle. 4" works fine for all but a camp knife or Bowie.........
...............I just walked over to the work table and measured the handles on the 35 knives I am finishing right now. The longest handle is 4.5", and it is on a 12" fillet knife.

Very nice...I personally like a longer handle :D Do you think you might do one with a natural canvas micarta handle (i cant get enough of that stuff!)

Very nice.

What did you decide on a primary grind angle?

The entire handle is heavily contoured, I made sure to avoid the "blocky handle". As for the steel I was going for a heavy duty camp style knife. The weight and overall package feel very nice in the hand.
Thanks for the input!

I'm just a guy that makes only liner locking folders so you don't have any competition from me. I made hundreds of hunters yeatrs ago. I believe you it would become a much better knife if you took Stacy's suggestions and put them in place. Frank

Nice.Looks unbreakable.I like a rounder and shorter handle personally, but i think that knife would sell quite well.Did you champher the lanyard liner to take the sharp edge off.Ive been dressed down for not doing it myself.

Nice job! Hell for stout and looks it. I was agreeing that I might have gone with a little shorter handle but after studying the pics again I'm not so sure. I think the whole package works.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, I should have a small batch available in approx 2 weeks. And yes I addressed the lanyard hole with a round file.

I'm hoping to keep the price around 100 shipped. We'll see.

Sounds good!!
I'll be watching.
Thanks.

Oh an all the comments about the knife being "solid" or "tank' like, that was my intention. This blade will happily attack any obstacle that you put in front of it. Please feel free to ask any questions.
