This knife and sheath have been hanging on one of the walls in my shop since about May. It wasn't an order so there was no rush on it. I think I just got tired of working on it. It had been up on the wall for so long I had forgotten why it was there. Anyway after I started rubbing the blade out it dawned on me why I hadn't finished it. Rubbing out large blades is a lot of work. Its done now except for putting the edge on it. I'm not sure if the blades is 1065 or 1084 but I know its one of the two. The blade is 11 1/2", overall its 16". Its got a fossil walrus ivory handle and bronze fittings plus one of my two ply leather sheaths.

Straight forward and handsome. Its amazing how a talented maker(that'd be you Ray) can make a piece like this, which is quite obviously a LOT of work, look so easy and simple to create.

MAN that's nice!

Reach out and touch someone. :)
Very nice work, Ray !
The walrus is just gorgeous and really like the butt cap treatment.
Topped off with your awesome one of a kind sheaths.

Doug

Awesome work Ray. Your knives are always so obviously yours, and the sheath is great.

Wow Ray! That's exactly one of the kind of knives that made me fall in love with your work.

It's absolutely gorgeous -- Well done!

I've had to come back to this thread over and over today. That is really impressive.
I'm kinda speechless over it.

That is an awfully fine piece there, Raymond!

Best Regards,

Great shape, color and textures Ray! Always a pleasure to look at your stuff.

Best,
Eric

I'd say that is one of my favorites that you have shown Ray! I like it VERY much and your sheaths are exquisitely done!

Cool pictures as well.

Peter

Aesthetically pleasing lines there Ray! Great looking package and I'l bet it cuts real good:thumbup:

Beautiful work, Ray. I like your other metalwork just as much. You seem to have really found your (style.. groove.. voice?) And it looks like you really enjoy what you're doing, too.

I really have been enjoying what I do. I fellow can't fish all the time.

I did the Washington Knife Show over the weekend. Managed to sneak these awards off the table when no one was looking. Just kidding, I'm not fast enough anymore. I'd sold the hunter right before the show opened but was still able to enter it.

Congratulations on the awards.
They were well deserved.
Beautiful knives.
Now when are you going to make another wide blade dagger?
