There was a huge wholesale ammo sale in town at a store quite far from home, so I dedicated a whole day just to shopping the local gun stores for a 1911 on the way back. :foot: After all, I had to replace the one the the Mrs acquired on our wedding day. ;) I looked at and held way too many... passed on a series 70 gold cup, several different Sig configurations, Remington, Smith, Kimber (too many to even mention) and even a Dan Wesson v-bob as none of them felt quite right for me. I finally found a Ruger SR1911 in stock for a fair price at an lgs for the first time in over a year and I knew I had found the one, so I had to bring it home. :D

There are probably lots of more desirable 1911's out there for the high end types, but this one is mine to customize to my liking. :p I like to think of it more along the lines of a Basic 11 type 1911 instead of the more MOABesque models of Brown, Baer and the like. Both will get the job done, but one is more wallet friendly, which as hard as I am on my users is really more my style. Plus, it was made in the first capital of the state I first called home, so that's a bonus to me. :o

Anyhow, here are some pics of it fresh out of the box with the 7 round clip.
The 8 round actually fits my hand better, there is a shot of it at the bottom of this post for the fellow large paw folks.
The wood panels are really pretty, but thinner than Busse G10 with a sharp spot at the bottom corner so I knew they had to go.
I really like the bold statement right under the Ruger logo too.

This is what it looks like now with the Blue/Black Busse G10 (Thanks Chuck
) along with my wife's Colt.
The only other upgrade I have planned for now is night sights, but the shooting starts this weekend and then I'll post up more on my thoughts on it as is.

Thanks for looking! Here's a parting shot of some of my favorite Bruiser users together. (Also the 8 round Ruger clip)

Good times. I need to add a reliable 1911 to my stable.

For sure, I wish I had been more open minded when I was younger as I passed on a lot of good 1911's over the years out of sheer ignorance. :o
It would be nice to have a Northwest get together for the Busse folks to hangout, talk/use knives, shoot stuff and get to know each other someday soon.
I'm still trying to talk the Busse crew into coming over this way when the weather is nice.
