Finally found a Kabar dealer in my area...and what a disapointment

Just found out my local army navy store is a Kabar dealer. Kick ass right? Finally I can fondle all the knives I want to try before hand instead of flying by the seat of my pants and just ordering online by recommendation alone (although its worked out so far). So I waltz in with my checkbook in hand and my wife waiting in the car so she can't tell me no, and I find a nice selection of blades. Bucks, ruk, Gerber, Benchmade, Leatherman, kershaw, you name it.

So I ask the guy where the kabars are and he points to the wall display case. And this is what they had.

So I say to the guy. "Hey is the bk3 the only Becker you got?"
And the guy says with a straight face "I don't know what that means."
Are you serious? My first time at what I thought was a legit blade shop and you don't know what a bk3 or a Becker is? And for real you carry the ENTIRE zk line but only one bkt? I seriously began explaining what the rest of the line looked like to see if they were maybe just out or somewhere else and the dude said no we don't get those in
So that's why im disappointed, Kabar should do some spot checks and see what people are selling their stuff. If I wasn't already a loyal fan, this guy woulda turned me off of buying anything. So I didn't end up getting anything and now as you can tell im full of piss and vinegar.
 
The dude realizes that the zombie invasion is coming sooner than everyone thinks.
 
I never expect sales people to know anything that way I'm never disappointed.

Bummer tho u couldn't fondle any steel
 
But what about all that cheap crap in the cases. Everyone needs a cheap set of throwing knives with fully adjustable weights on it.

That's what I was hoping for. If they had a 5 I would left with that but if not I was thinking I would buy a 2 for my brother in law that helped with the july challenge or maybe a 7 or 9 if the price was right to mod

The 3 is nice but that wanted like 105 for it.
 
Honestly I havn't bought a knife at a store for a long time. There just isn't any where I live. I would help the guy out and educate him, just might help both of you out.

i like to give brick and mortars a chance, but they more often end up being disappointing.
 
I wanna find one place, online or brick and mortar, that has the selection i want and good customer service. am i just chasing a pipe dream? I have the prime amazon membership and love the free 2 day shipping and the prices are good, but out of all the knives ive bought off there at least 1/4 were not as advertised or had defects. other places have a great selection but are 10-15% higher prices than their competitors. its a crap shoot trying to find the one dealer i want to make all my transactions through, and i was hoping for the ARMY NAVY store but we see how that turned out
 
The only knives I have seen anywhere in my state are either case folders or some china made knives at some flea market and that literaly is it.I think the only option for me is online shopping,doing a lot of research and making educated decisions before spending my hard earned money.The only other option I can think of and I'm not sure I can mention this without getting in trouble.it is a show that comes on late at night and they sell quality knives it's a show where you have to call in,I'll just give a hint it's called -acti-al kn-ves TV.
 
Acti akn vestv .....thats also where i get those russion mail order brides :D ...... but seriously whats that like QVC or HSN? the only late night show like that that i have seen that sells tools is one that sells tools for lady parts and i have yet to see a becker magic bullet available :D
 
i believe thats a kabar cutlass but could be wrong since i thought the cutlass had more of a deep belly

Or the becker rabbit lol.....but in all seriousness they do sell soemquality knives I've only seen it a couple of times it is like QVC and HSN I think it comes on at around 11:00pm on thursday if I remember correctly and they do have pretty good brand name knives If you have a satalite do a search on that clue/name I gave you and mark it.It's funny to see ceramic dolls then large survival knives being sold on there.

im gonna have to check it out. gives me something else to watch on thrusday nights besides reruns of the office and futurama. maybe my insomnia can actually be productive

I must be lucky to live about 16 hours from TWO great dealers. I always buy my products online from either Warriors and Wonders.com which is based in Vancouver BC, or Bushcraft Canada.com which is based in Kelowna BC. They both have absolutely GREAT customer service, and pretty good prices. Using the cheapest shipping method, it takes about two or three business days for a parcel to get to me.
