So today my wife went out and bought new garbage bins, and charged me with getting rid of the old ones. I decided to chop them up with the LMF II I got for Chrimstmas and haven't done a thing with.

I read a lot about that plastic part surrounding the base of the blade cracking on people, but I didn't have any problems. I chopped through the thick upper lip of the old bins, five or six times each. It was easy to push the kinfe through the thick plastic, serrations saw just as they should. It worked out pretty well, almost ideal for the job.

I know a lot of guys trash on this knife, but I like mine. I kind of had a good time destroying bins with it, and it didn't leave a mark on the blade coating or anything. Despite what everyone says I think it's a pretty nice knife, so I just thought I'd relay a positive experience. I still think the sheath is overkill, though.

I like the LMF.

Just dont whack the plastic.

And if it cracks. Gerber has a great warrenty.

One of the owners of the company I work for does a lot of rough camping and loves his LMF II. He buys tons of equipment , researches all his purchases and this was the fixed blade he chose.

He's not a knife knut .... more of an equipment nut , but for his folding knife he carries a small Sebenza so cost wasn't an issue. And he uses his stuff, I've seen pictures of their trips.

I got an LMFII for my brother a while back, we used it to cut up a trampoline recently. Cut right through it, the serrations on it are just as they should be.

I think mine is going to see some camping this summer. The sheath is crazy though. I took all the straps and nylon off, and just have it in the hard shell.

There was an article in The American Rifleman a few years back about how a US soldier cut a live power line to shut down the lights when their base came under fire. The handle is insulted to prevent electric shock.
They showed a picture of the knife with a chunk of the blade missing.

I bought one last year, before I joined BF and discovered the "haters." It's a perfectly good knife that will do exactly what it is designed to do. It's not a Busse and doesn't pretend to be. It's a relatively affordable versatile medium/heavy duty cutting instrument. What's to hate?
