I've never been a fan of Spyderco's offerings. I've tried quite a few of them over the past few years, including some of the mid/high end models:

-CF Military
-G10 ParaMilitary2
-Perrin PPT
-Gayle Bradley
-Ti Sage
-Manix2
-Police
-A few others I can't remember at the moment...

The only one that I liked was the Gayle Bradley and I keep it in my truck. I have huge hands and all the others just felt very awkward and "un-ergonomic" to me. Well made, excellent fit and finish, but not comfortable at all.

Today, I received a Delica4 ZDP-189 from a trade that I arranged last week. I wasn't expecting much, but it feels as good in my hand as the small Sebenza I've been carrying for years. Light as a feather and slices better than any pocket knife I've ever owned. If I didn't have such a sentimental attachment to my CRK (gift from a late friend), I'd put it back in the drawer and just carry the Delica everyday. In fact, if I ever lost the Sebenza, I would do just that.

Until I actually held and used it, I would have just dismissed the Delica as a "cheap plastic knife" and never given it a second look. I thought the best sub-$100 EDC knife on the market was the Benchmade Griptilian, but this little Delica has changed my mind. Just a fantastic little tool...

you got huge hands and the delica fits you better than a military ? let me tell you you have weird huge hands.

anyway glad you found something that worked for you. :D

Well, the only Military I've held is my carbon fiber model (C36CFP) and the long skinny handle feels like I'm holding a ruler in my hand. Maybe the G10 versions are thicker...

The Delica fits perfectly between my thumb and forefinger, much like the Sebenza.

Glad you found one you like. For me it is the Endura 4. I generally like most Spyderco knives, but the Endura 4 seems to fit like it was made for me. Just seeing it online, I thought it looked like a "cheap plastic knife". As soon as I held one and experienced the VG10 and the light-weight perfectly textured FRN I knew I couldn't put it down. I could see how the Delica would be much the same.

I've got a ZDP Delica as well. I LOVE it. Almost as much as my ZDP Endura, which is a SICK beast of a knife. I would highly recommend it to someone who enjoys the contours and aesthetics of the Delica.

+1 Strange thing for sure, but most important that he found the knife. I never thought about Delica as cheap plastic knife. It is great blade with durable economic handle. Pure tool. Unfortunately for me it doesn't have finger choil. I just love this feature.
Congrats on your find.

I have pretty big hands and while I like my CF and G10 Militaries it's the Titanium one I usually carry because of its thicker handle.

I think the Delica 4 is an amazing knife for the money! I love that it is offered in all sorts of colors now, I have a BRG zdp SE, but I am snapping up a brown one pretty soon too.

A true "every man's" pocket knife.

I am with you 100%. Bought a Small Sebenza with African Blackwood 6 months ago...it is my everyday go to....Love it! Bought a British Racing Green Delica 4 ZDP-189 a month ago...in my pocket 2 days out of 7 each week (in my bag as a back-up the other 5 days). Great knife! Have a couple of other Spyderco knives including the Sage 1 which is also outstanding, but I don't see a rotation that does not include my small Sebenza at least 70% of pocket time.

Actually kind of the same with fountain pens.....I keep two inked at all times (Stipula Etruria Fiesole & a Parker 51). A third ( Stipula Saturno) sees 15-20% active duty on good weeks. It's great finding things that just speak to you, and fit your hand and personality to a tee.

Looks are important for sure....but quality and tactile harmony(????) are just as important.

Regards,
Peter

Just goes to show you how differen't everyone hands are. Hence our on-going mission for that grail edc

I have small hands and the Manix 2 fills my hand perfectly. But I often wonder, would a para 2 fit better? ;)
