This is my first post on what appears to be a truly interesting site. Although using an axe has pretty well given way to chainsaw use, I have a favorite axe given to me by my father when I was about 13 (57 years ago). When I showed that axe to my grandfather who used an axe practically every day, he declared it, "...a good one that will cut beautifully and probably last the rest of my life if I took care of it". It was a Plumb junior axe and the inscription on the head was Para El Cedro. A few years ago I thought what a great gift an axe like that would make for my son and a search of Plumb's web site had no reference to it. Just a couple weeks ago I thought about it again and just googled para el cedro. There it was on ebay. The axe head was undoubtedly the same as mine and had sold for $116.00. I found one other that had sold for about $75.00. Turns out I've been limbing Hickory trees for smoking wood with a collectors item. Don't know if I ever thanked Dad for that great tool. Hopefully he is with me in spirit and knows that I appreciate that and all the other tools with which he blessed me. Anyone else out there have a Plumb cedar axe story?
