Since seeing the post on here of the finds I started looken. Ive been to a half dozen yard sales and no luck. I just ask now, "any axes." I went on a week long vacation to eastern WA and stopped at a few pawn shops and some of the many thrift/antique stores asking for axes. Finally went to one way out in the middle of no-where. I asked, He said "maybe through that door, and if not I know where to find some." He had none, but he gave me directions to a yard sale and I found 3 double bit axes @ $10 each, all re handled. I bought 2 of them and wish I had just grabbed all 3, but the 3rd handle was warped pretty bad, the head was stamped "o&o." It was a retired guy, he said to stay busy he cleaned em up and re handled them.

Nice find on these pair of axes. Now I'm wondering if here in the PNW, there's more interest in double-bit axes than single-bits?

nice choppers
heck, handles cost ten bucks:cool:, a good deal on some good tools
they don't look abused, one is a Collins?:D

Now Im wondering if the majority of the finds are going to be double bits. Ill be looking for some more axes of either kind.

Ya the stripped one is a Collions, he said it was blue. The guy said he bought 4 double bit heads for $1, and bought the handles for $8.50, then cleaned em up and hung them. So he made a wooping $0.50 per axe.

I the cabin I stayed at had a little hatchet that was broad head style. I was wanting to take that thing home, couldnt find any markings on it but it was cool looking.
