Most of you guys can already do it but for me its been a long hard road as I was polishing my new bk10 with some renaissance wax decided to have one more try with my smith's sharpening system, before ordering a worksharp.
I wanted to be able to put an decent edge on a blade without Electricity being needed. After 2 hours going through all but the coursest stone just tried to skim across my arm a was shocked when I saw All the hair sliding off in front of the blade. Now to get that sharpness and keep the blade pretty too.

I know it's not a big deal but this is the first time I have gotten a Big blade this Sharp. I'M almost giddy with excitement.
Thank you Mr Becker for the great steel and A BIG Thanks to all you knife makers and professional Sharpeners your advice is what made this possible..OK I be Quite now:D:D:D
Any advice on getting out those grind marks in the last photo without losing the sharpness..

use a fine stone - just keep doing what you're doing and it will get EVEN SHARPER.

good job! It's all down hill (and down the rabbit hole in my case) from here.

it's good to do what Daiz said for the grind lines; or use, strop(or sharpen), use, strop repeat--the lazy-ish way. Getting shinier takes time, but will happen naturally.

:D When I got my (well used and abused) 6, it was as dull as a library, and a little bent. I finally found the "hold" I had to put on the knife, so that I could safely stone it back from oblivion. Normally I would move the blade across the stone, but not with a 6. :) A vise might have worked better, but I want to be able to hone this one anywhere.
It is always a joy to find the edge again. Nice work!

There is something superbly satisfying about putting a nasty sharp edge on a blade.
Makes me smile every time!

Thanks guys
And your right it is very satisfying to achieve a sharper blade.
I never would have thought I'd get this happy from sharpening a knife, as sharpening was never my strong point
I may eventually go ahead and get a worksharp But for now I'm Happy with my Stones.

Welcome to the zen like experience of sharpening. Its great to relax with at the end of the day to clear the mind.
