I finally got a bradley alias; ive always liked its style,& blade shape. What i dont like now that i got it is the weak lock bar. it moves when gripping the knife tight,& releases so easily it doesnt seem right. is this typical of them? it also seems there is not alot of solid or strait contact of the inner lockbar face to the blade tang.the lockbar seems to round off near the detent giving less contact where it needs to be.i have never had this problem with any other knife.this is the worst lockup ive ever seen on a knife, & its not a cheap knife, either.im going to get rid of it because of this. Also, from everything ive read & seen on youtube about it being as good as a sebenza for half the price;with this knid of lockbar movement, its not anywhere near a sebenza. i have a 30.00 crkt full throttle that locks up light years ahead of this.anyone else have this knife & problem?...

what you have is not typical for the Alias series. If you bought it new i would return it. if you bought it used i would talk to the seller because it sounds like they did not communicate the fact that the lockup was bad. oh and pics would be nice.

You should go back to the source and share your concern so that you can get it replaced.

I like mine. I haven't noticed a lockbar problem with it but I'll have to admit I haven't looked for it either.

Chances are, if you had a lockbar problem, you wouldn't have to look for it - it would be evident just in use.

The lockup seems good,no blade play, its just if you start to squeeze on the lockbar while gripping it,that it seems to start to slip up a slight bit.

I had to go back and forth with Benchmade until they got it right. Mine now locks up like a dream. I was also well compensated for the issue.

I have an Alias. When open, the lockbar shifts and can even disengage if you put even pressure on the spine of the knife.

I sent it back to Benchmade, got it back, and the problem persisted. When they told me the best they could do was for me to send it back to them so they could try again (something that costs 20$ in shipping charges, where I live), on my dime, I chucked it in a box and chucked the box in a drawer. Haven't looked at it since. :thumbdn:

Is it typical of the Alias? I don't know. I can say, without a doubt, that you're not the first to have problems with it.

Again Monk, I dunno. The first time I got it back, I told them to pay for shipping when I sent it back again. They did. The next time I got it back, I told them to pay for expedited shipping, they over night'ed both ways. And, I requested they hook me up with a blade, for my troubles.

Their top guy in repair fixed it the last time. It's been great since. On one of the occasions, they sent it back with the lockbar moving when pressure was applied to the spine, certainly the lock would fail if you pushed it....Something tells me a lot of folks at benchmade are unfamiliar with a frame lock.

Persist, and get your dang knife fixed. This is Benchmade. They've been making quality knives before I was even born.

I have an Alias 1, lockup is great, no blade play, little sticky unlocking but not too bad. My only problem after about a year of EDC, is that the detent is practically gone now

I've almost picked up a Alias 1 a few times, but with owning 2 Large Sebenza 21's and 1 Small 21 it just doesn't seem to make sense.

I guess it's more because I've always heard nothing but great reviews on both the Alias 1 & 2.

I'm surprised to hear about the lock bar issue as I don't recall hearing about it in the past.

I def wouldn't deal with a shot lock bar though, that's how bad accidents can happen.

You should either contact the dealer or person you purchased it from.

My lockbar was a little sticky at first, but seems to be fine now. Luckily, none of my Benchmade knives have had problems that needed warranty work, yet.

If your not happy send it back and demand a new one or a refund.

As the customer that is your privilege.

Never except a knife you think has a problems fresh out of the box.

If a problem develops later it might be an issue for the maker, but new knives should function as expected.
