so i decided to bite the bullet and drop the 65.00 on the sharpmaker..i have to say that i am extremely impressed. before i got it i could barely get a utility edge on any of my knives even the softer ones. i broke it out and put my tenacious on it, i had been using it all day to cut open cardboard on cases of ceramic tile and also cutting open bags of mortar to lay tile. i put it on the sharpmaker with the fine stone for about 30 seconds and it brought it back to even sharper than it came from the factory. it was literally splitting hairs. so now all my spydies have a new edge on them that is scary sharp. i just wanted to post this up here to say thank you to Sal for this incredible invention, i will never buy another branded sharpener again and i will buy more as gifts for my friends. Thank you Thank you Thank you

Welcome to the club MATE! :D haha. I was pretty much in the same boat as you. Could not for the life of me get a sharp edge by freehand. LOVE the sharpmaker! It's so easy to use, just take your time.
Cheers! -AJ

I love how spyderco grinds their knives so close to 30 degrees inclusive that the brown rods reprofile their knives in a short amount of time. Other brands.. not so much!

Welcome to the world of sharp knives! If you plan on owning any knives of value, you MUST have a way of sharpening them. The Sharpmaker makes it incredibly easy. Now go get yourself the diamond rods and ultra fine rods. You'll be putting mirror edges on in under an hour.
