Ordered it from Knifecenter.com back in January (when I first started collecting stuff. Ah, the wonders of credit cards . . .) and it arrived yesterday. I was expecting one of two packages from One Stop Knife Shop when I saw a small brown box on my doorstep when I came back from school but was surprised when I saw that it was from Knifecenter. I started opening the box with my keys as I entered my house and when I got to the kitchen I held in my hands a beautiful addition to my collection . . . Found myself reaching for it and opening and closing it throughout the day to remind myself that I wasn't dreaming. A sweet, sweet knife . . .

I'm kinda curious about the number 484 stamped on the blade though.

As I understand it, the first 1000 of a custom collaboration are serially numbered.

The first 201 go to the Spyderco collectors club members, 201 thru 1000 fill standing orders.

Congratulations on snagging a numbered collaboration.

Yep, sure is. The way it works is you contact Jill Rackcliff at Spyderco for availability of a collector's number. You pick an authorized Spyderco dealer (James Mattis is mine). And you agree to buy one of everything Spyderco makes. Thereafter, everytime a new product comes out, you get your's, with your number on it, automatically. When there's a choice between plain edge and SpyderEdge, the official collector's knife is always the SpyderEdge.

Ahh... The brown truck just delivered plain-edge #756 (Ordered from 1SKS. Thanks Mike!

). It's a beauty and that really is a complex grind. Now, if you will excuse me, I have a long afternoon of opening, closing, drooling, etc. ahead of me.

I love my Lum also. The only problem is that the titanium scratches so easily! I know mine is numbered (#651), but I have a problem with not being able to carry a knife.

Ewok,

So does this mean that most of the numbered models are Spyderedge (since there usually is a choice)?

Actually, they come combo edge, if that's available. If no combo edge is being offered, you receive a full Spyder edge.

Also, they just changed the "rule" on variations. We were asked last month to specify whether we'd like to receive future issues with all variations, or only the combo edge. No more picking and choosing!

While we're on the subject, anyone who'd like to buy my brand new in box #68 combo edge Lum should please contact me by e-mail.

Well, it's been four days since my Lum arrived and I love it more each time I look at it. I can't imagine actually using and sharpening it. It's too pretty. I think this one falls under the "art" category. I am quite pleased.
