Ordered it from Knifecenter.com back in January (when I first started collecting stuff. Ah, the wonders of credit cards . . .) and it arrived yesterday. I was expecting one of two packages from One Stop Knife Shop when I saw a small brown box on my doorstep when I came back from school but was surprised when I saw that it was from Knifecenter. I started opening the box with my keys as I entered my house and when I got to the kitchen I held in my hands a beautiful addition to my collection . . . Found myself reaching for it and opening and closing it throughout the day to remind myself that I wasn't dreaming. A sweet, sweet knife . . .

I think the Lum is beautiful also and I don't even like tantos that much. The finish of the titanium is gorgeous even if it is prone to scratching. The blade is awfully sharp, and the Lum just feels good in my hands. I can't imagine working one really hard, but it is a great looking big knife. Finally, i must say that the lockup is rock solid.

Anthony: I know the feeling. I can't decide whether to make it part of my daily carry or leave it at home to admire.

Joe: It's not exactly an uncommon name. If I ever was in Florida, I don't remember it.

I wonder what grade of Titanium SpyderCo is using in the Lum?

I would guess that it is a lower grade CP Ti.
(Commercially Pure). These tend to be softer and easier to machine.

A good upgrade would be to the harder Ti Alloys like 6Al4V - I think these would be less prone to scratching.

Some really beautiful anodizing can be done with Ti...hint hint Mr. Glesser...

How about a gold(little bit), silver and mainly black radiating pattern from the engraved SpyderCo "bug" anodized onto the scales and with a TiNitride (black?) blade...

How about this for the next BladeForums custom?
