Finally got a stiff PM2

I've got several PM2's and all of them have been pretty smooth. Some more than others, with the S110V being the best, free falling and zero blade play right out of the box. The S35VN and the DLC (black G-10) were just behind that; while not free falling, a ever so slight flick and the blade dropped. However, I recently got a Digicam DLC and it's definitely on the stiffer side. It take a pretty good flick of the wrist to get the blade to drop while holding the lock open. I guess either I got spoiled by the ones I have or I got one that just needs a little break in. I'll have to play with it/use it a lot over the course of the next couple weeks to see if it makes a difference.

When any of you guys have gotten a stiff PM2, how long did it take to break in?

Thx!

it will smooth out and free fall better. every one ive gotten has. time wise depends on how much you play with it.

I got one PM2 that was abit stiff. I actually had to adjust the pivot abit to get it right. Even though I was able to get it pretty free swinging without blade play, it is still much stiffer than my first pm2.

My M4 came with just a little resistance to falling freely closed. Now it swings freely, but does not "drop". I've had it for a month or so. I'm the second owner but I do not think it saw any action previously. It didn't *need* any breaking in, but it seems just a little more perfect after a month or so of 2-3X weekly carry.

My collection is now 10 PM2,, two were stiff new.
Great Spyderco design made it very easy to slightly tweek the pivot screw and blade stop scews to fine tune for my personal preference.
Some lube into the washer/blade pivot area also helps greatly.

Regards,
FK
