Used the same paint stripper (Citristrip) as on my Esee 3, and I'm really liking the outcome. I only stripped the blade down to the top of the handle.

Thoughts? :D

Looks great. Almost like a stone wash finish. It makes sense that you only stripped the blade. My only criticism would be that some painters tape would have given a crisper line on the spine. Though after a bit of use stuff like that becomes less and less noticeable. The cord wrap job looks very nice too.

I like the end result on your blade. The handle wrap looks great too. I'm just curious but I checked out the Citristrip website and they have a number of products. I am thinking of doing this to one of my blades but don't need to buy a big container of Citristrip. Did you use the aerosol or the gel of the Paint and Varnish Stripping Gel?

Thanks man :D Subtle visual differences, but the OD cord is 750 and the camo is 550, so while it doesn't look too different, you can feel a noticeable ridge between the two cords, which helps with grip.

Thanks! :D I use the gel. You can buy a quart of it on Amazon for $10.72 with One-day shipping (if you have Prime). It works really well on both ESEE and Becker coatings.

Nice work, I like the idea of using 550 and 750 cord to improve the grip. I'll have to give this a shot.

From experience, I know it also works just fine on Cold Steel and Ontario knives too....................;)

If you're referring to Citristrip, it might work on their RAT series or something like that, but the particular finish on my Vulpine is a heated phosphate, and that crap is tough as can be.

I do the same thing to my Becker knives - strip the blade and leave the coating to protect the tang around the scales.
