Finally Got Busse, Just had to tell somebody

I have wanted a Busse for years, but had gotten away from collecting knives for a while. I've been prowling your forum for a while learning about them and fighting with myself over buying one. I don't post, I prefer to read and learn from others. Well I took the plunge and bought an ASH-1 and an FFBM. The second one is not even here yet and I want another. I kept talking myself out of spending that much on a knife, even though I'd spend it on something else.

Just a little while ago I found the thread on Busse Superiority and just loved seeing that car torn to pieces. I'm sure my wife is sick of hearing about Busses (this has been going on for over a month) so I wanted to share with people who understand the excitement. I haven't felt this excited about getting something since I was a kid. I feel a little guilty and silly.
 
Welcome and those are some nice blades to begin your love affair with! Start putting money aside NOW. You're going to need it.

An ASH 1 was in the box with my first Busses. Ill never forget the first time I held that thing.
It put an evil grin on my face. I could not believe how robust it was and how nice it felt in hand.
Great way to start.
 
I found the ASH on ebay. It was similar to one I stumbled across here on the forum. It's a satin blade with tan/black grips (looks gray and black to me though). The FFBM which is still on the way is black with blue and black grips.

The ASH feels absurdly thick - which is what I wanted. I've also got a Waki and all black Ratmandu and HRLM, but these are the first REAL big thick BUSSES.
 
By the way, I just wanted to say that, in general I like the tone of this forum. Some goofy and fun topics and like minded people having a good time.
 
I was once in your shoes, wrestling with my conscience about spending $247 on a knife, an original Steel Heart in a gunzine ad. By the time I couldn't fight the urge any more, it had been supplanted by the Steel Heart II ( the first one, with the bird's beak handle) which I ordered. By the time I finally bought a Steel Heart I, and then another, I paid a lot more than $247 each for them!

And I was excited about the prospect of receiving that first Busse. I wasted a good bit of my employer's time using a copy machine to make a copy of the ad picture to actual size scale, to get an idea of what was coming. When it arrived, I had a reaction much like he first time I saw the Grand Canyon. I just sat and stared for awhile, saying "wow." I was a 48 year old man acting just like Ralphie with that Red Ryder.

I have acquired a couple more Busses since then.

get her a knife of her own and share the joy of Busse/kin with her, though THAT can get really expensive!! I have become a total monster since being introduced to these knives.
 
I tell everyone when I get a new Busse. Even non knife people.

I once told my girlfriend, "I just got a new Busse" and she thought I said, "I just got a new (something that rimes with Busse)" Funny story. :D
