This thing had a very slippery handle, especially when wet, even after sanding with 120 grit sand paper. I finally got fed up and took a dremal to it. If i were going for aesthetics, or modding someone else's knife, I would have used a file and taken my time. But this is my beater fixed blade and I just need it to work. Still came out pretty good, despite some minor unevenness. Very grippy now. Let me know what yall think. I think not too shabby for 130 in the morning with no vice and minimal tools/planning.

If a Southfork is your "beater" knife, I'd love to know what you have for a safe-queen :D:thumbup::D

Good mod idea. Something unique and personal, which I like in a mod.

I guess its not my beater, i don't beat on any of my knives. Its just my primary fixed blade.

Nice work! I dislike slick, polished handles. I used to rough up Dozier handles when I'd get a new one with some fine sandpaper. It doesn't look as nice, but it sure makes a difference!

I couldn't imagine taking a dremmel to such an expensive blade but it seems to have worked out in your favour, nice work.

Hi Legato,

Looks good. nice work. Now the testing begins. Let us know how it performs long term and if you make any mods to the work after testing?

Looks fine to me. I agree that the handle on the SF is a bit slick, especially given its intended use. I initially had some issues with mine being to slippery while cleaning fish. I sanded mine thoroughly with some 180 and that was enough for me.

Looks great but what is that stain on your leg:confused::eek::D

Lol, I was sitting on the porch floor, I think it's isopropal alcohol I spilled on myself trying to get the adhesive off a bottle. I cut the top off an old nalgene while I had the dreml out, they make the best cups.
