however i only got the 420hc steel. firstly because the shop only had that. Secondly, Since i live in a very humid country. i thought the 420hc will have a better resistance against moisture than compared to the 154cm. is this right???
also does this mean that i have to sharpen the blade more often than with a 154cm??
and will sharpening time be longer or shorter, im not quite clear regarding this issue.

another point i want to add is the customer service at Shears(Singapore). if u people ever come down to singapore this guy has the best service and prices around. He will resharpen ur knife set the knife alignment and all sorts of other stuff for free after u have purchased the knife, that means im gonna be pampered coz if the service is soo good i just have to ask the guys there i to help me sharpen, would haveto do nothin, hehehee.

now the EDC is sweeeeet. i never expected it to be as light as what it was. though the blade is 420hc. The blade rests very well with my pocket no fear of it falling out. however unlike some people i had no problems with the locking and relaeasing, mine works fine and smoothly (thank goodness). i hope camillus has done a good job with it(420hc steel) coz i WILL be using it EVERYDAY. i got no complains so far. the blade came shaving sharp but i would have preferred it to have been sharper.

however the box that it came in was the CUDA box and read ats-34 steel. how come the EDC doesnt have its own box??? other than that i hope and think that the EDC will be with me for along time...

finally thanks all for helping me whenever i needed opions. big thanks also to Camillus and DR. great design, very eye catching.

Glad to see you finally made a choice. I think you had a lot of confusing information, that may ultimately have been too much to be helpful.

I'm sorry, but I don't know for sure that 420HC is more corrosion resistant than 154CM. I think it is a bit, but the only really stainless steel seems to be this new X-15 stuff.

Glad you got a smooth opening/closing EDC. Envy you a bit for that. I think it is a good serviceable knife. I've also been very impressed with the response by Camillus when someone states they have a problem with a Camillus knife. I think they're determined to make you a happy customer, and you can't ask for much more than that.

Enjoy your EDC!

I don't know what all the flap is about with regards to 420HC. If Camillus has decided to go with it, and they continue to do the outstanding job of heat treating that the do, then it should serve you well.

I have the talonite model of the EDC and it will NEVER rust but it IS a bit more pricey.

Enjoy a good Camillus product.

Will Fennell has addressed the box issue in the Camillus forum.

The reason for that is those purple and white boxes were originally made for the CUDA Quik-Action folders, which have ATS-34 steel. The EDC is a part of the CUDA line, so they used the same boxes. Though the EDC is available in 420HC, 154CM, and Talonite, they still use the same box. I think Will said they will modify the CUDA logo on the boxes and subtract the "ATS-34" to avaoid further confusion. I think they may already have done this, they are just wanting to use up the current supply before implementing the new boxes.

Hope this helps!

In my experience, you won't have any trouble with the 420hc not staying sharp. The hardness may be what it's all about, but mine has stayed hair poppin' since new. Easy to touch up on the Sharpmaker 204 anyhow! Sometime I think the difference in good steels is mostly hype designed to generate interest. IMHO, take care of any good steel, and it will stay sharp a long time, and resharpen well. That's my goal, anyhow!:D :D

I can personally attest that the 125 aniversary version of the Camillus EDC comes with a very nice box ;)

Glad i'm not the only one in the region who likes these little knives. Now if only they were a shade larger and the handles a little more hand-filling, but i guess I'll have to talk to Darrel for that... :D

The EDC is a great knife. I think the 420HC should serve you well. If you are looking for something in that smae class that has a better steel, IMO, look at the Paragee by Outdoor Edge. It is also a Darrel Ralph designed framelock.

jln26,

Welcome to the forum. Please email me where this Shears is. I often go down there, and thinking to buy a good knife for my wife.

My current edc is a balisong, cheapo Taiwan waved handle. It happen to have quite a decent blade that is useful for daily task.

hey there baliswinger,
good that u asked abt sheares coz i bet that u wont regret ur trip down. but pls dont bring that bali of urs to singapore coz its banned here, along with autos. anyway sheares address is 43 Beach Rd #01-00 Evershine & Century Complex. this is along raffles hotel of coz along beach road. opposite shaw centre. cant miss it. if u get lost give them a ring. their address and details can be found on www.yellowpages.com.sg type sheares marketing in the search column.

hello, jln26,
i have been working hard to find knive supplier from US. i found on who giving me half price on DHL shippment. so i can bring in knives at your choice. my price will be about 10 to 15 dollar cheaper than wat u got from the store u mention. it works the same way. u order from catalogue. convert to sg dollar. oh. i will bring in quicker.. i usually takes about 10 days. u donthave to wait for about 1 mth. and 2 day shippment is possible unless i have more order from u guys.
cheer

jln26,
thanks! I know it balis is banned in Singapore. Is this Shears price reasonable? I have a shop down here that mark up the price 2 - 3 times!!!!

baliswinger sheares does indeed offer good prices, trust me. sng arms over here also does jack up the price by quite a bit. our friend CPM10V brags about low prices, when asked for a quote he couldnt even give me one, instead he just keeps saying that he needs to check blah blah blah. whats more i dont know if CPM10V, whether u have a lisence to sel knives in singapore. whats more u told me that u dont even have a store, no stock of knives. for me i rather look and feel the knife in my hand before i make my purchase, thats y i choose sheares, ggod price great service. plus i get to look and feel which ever knife i please

hi to BaliSwinger, jln26
errr. no, i dont brags about low prices. up to 25 dollars lower is no problem at all. and 10 days(but there are time where it hit 14 days) reaching singapore is no problem at all. hey, err, if u dont wanna order from me , its really find.
so it left with two good one in sg, that is shears and sngarms, so baliswinger, pls go to shear. if u choose to buy from sngarms , u goig to vomit blood.
and y chose butterfly, if police notice u with that, they going to invite u to their place for 24 hours.
and my knives will be all inspected by the licening department.

ok, oh ya, hey jlin26 , y u so heated up. cheer up man.. lives goes on.. ya.. but any way, it a good spirit to really speak your mind.

yeah man....
