I was in Ames, IA over the weekend for a wedding. I stopped by an "outdoor gear" store and took a look at the knife cabinet. Although the display was dominated by Benchmade and Kershaw they did have some Spydies in one corner. Then it hit me... "Holy crap! That's a P2!" That was followed shortly by "Holy crap! That's a digicam + black P2!!!" and "Holly crap!!! That's a smokin' price (at least for a brick-and-mortar shop)". I had the salesman get it out of the display. I took a look at it for about 5 seconds before telling him I'd take it. Then he tells me he'll get me one still in the box... "Holy crap!!! You've got more than one of these?" "Yeah. We got a bunch in about a month ago."
I told him I'd look around the store a bit so keep the P2 behind the counter. Once I got away from the knife display and started to think I realized that a) as cool as the digi + black was, I really wanted black + satin. b) I have some money in the knife budget, but that money is earmarked for the Cru-Millie. c) I've got a ton of extra expenses coming up over the next month.
So reluctantly I had to tell the salesman that I changed my mind and had him put it back. On the flip side, anyone wanting a digi+black P2, there is a shop in Ames that has at least two in stock. With a little detective work you should be able to figure out the name of the shop. Maybe I'll feel better if one of the regulars here snaps them up.
