welll... you know... i hate to even say this but...
you could chop the ak47's handle in half, and make a new micarta handle for it that had a bottom gaurd, creating a one hand machete...
and trust me, had i an extra 600 - i would try it

What about 1whobuys machete? I saw pics of it unfinfinished mixed in with some Rats, but what of it since? It only took 3 years I think. Perhaps longer, not sure.

wow! What the heck did I walk into? Funny this subject should come up. I just bought a Ontario machete and sheath last week. $39.00 incl shipping. Got the 16" blade model. Nice machete, pretty thick as machetes go, 0.125".
A little on the short side but I'm thinking it'll work great for backpacking. An INFI machete eh? Not a bad idea but for what it would cost, I don't know how I would feel about beating the crap out of it like I plan on doing to the one I bought. But then I don't plan on babying my Busses either.
