After over a year's (I'm belgian, this is normal) wait I got a call from Groco's in Hasselt my favorite knife shop that they had found me a PE black (not the grey grippy one) Massad Ayoob by spyderco. This is a great folder. I love the way it rides deep in the pocket, tip down (like I prefer), very rigid almite handle and really sharp VG-10 blade. After some uncarefull oiling it just took off a big chunk of my right ringfinger :D . But what really amazes me is how much I like it in reverse grip! This just blows away all the Kerambit/hawkbill type stuff for reverse grip self-defence practise! And to top it all off a lefty like me can even change the clip to the "right side".

Why oh why isn't this one of the more popular tac knives???

I was just wandering why tip up is so popular. You have to grap deeper into your pocket to retrieve the knife, I find it so much easier to grab the top part of the knife between my thumb and indexfinger and then rotate the handle securely in my palm while sliding my thumb towards the hole and opening the knife. This is off-course personal preference (also I while drawing a tip up I once stabbed myself, this might have to do with it, too) But if I really liked the knife the tip up/down wouldn't be a major factor for me.

Willy-
what does your sig say? I've been trying to translate it, but Im missing a few words.-Joe

It says that spark ruined my signature and I'm not pleased with it.

Well, that´s a very freehanded translation!
The original translation of "Moederneukende aarsridder van een Spark heeft mijn sig verneukt." says:
"The mother****ing ass-knight? Spark had screwed my sig"

Sorry, but that´s the truth.

I am wondering the same as you on the tip down thing. Like, I have a cold steel voyager with tip down and it feels natural to grab and open it the way you say. Also like you, if I liked the knife, don't think that would be a factor in saying no to it.

especially Kcardwell, since someone here at the forum pointed out a way how to open right handed tip up carry (I know) with your ring finger and then have the knife in a hammergrip. I try to buy ambi's or lefties however.

I've had it for a few months now. I've got the later version with the almite coating. It's an awesome knife, I guess it was just a little too funky for people. But it fits my hand like it was made for me. Thin, light, sharp and above all Lefty friendly. What's not to like?;)

Mine's got an almite handle coating too, does yours have the "grippier" one grey one I've heard about ?

It stays put in the hand but it is starting to show some marks, mainly from my wedding ring when reaching into my pocket for other things.
