After reading about the legendary toughness of this family of knives for decades now, I treated myself to a Chop-House Lean-cut courtesy of Ricky over at Stabbers. I find that I can't use e-bay without running into all sorts of problems so his flexibility with payment options was excellent.

Great blade, I can just feel the potential in It's heft and so long as I can get a good angle with room to swing, it chops nicely, I still crave a thick-cut or something heavier though.

It's true what you say, once you get one, you can't stop so I'll be looking around the exchange thread. I might have something others would be interested in as a ware, I made a Birch scabbard that is surprisingly tough, effective and versatile. I plan on offering more and more refined versions for those interested. I'll have to get pictures of that and the other mods I've done on the Lean-cut up later.

Great to introduce myself. I'll look forward to sharing in the obsession and the enjoyment of these knives and blades.

Welcome, and nice first 'kin knife! I'm pretty new here myself (only three CGs to my name).

KJL, Congratulations on your new knife, and welcome to BladeForums! There is lots of good information around here. Your Chop House will probably not be your last Busse family knife.

Hey congrats on the knife score !! And welcome to the madness :-)

Run while you still can, there is still time.........

Welcome home brother.

Thank you for the welcome, I feel lucky on a couple of counts in that I don't drink or use credit-cards. I'm quite an unusual personality in a lot of ways but maybe the most relevant to this board and understanding the aspect of me reflected in my appreciation for blades: I could refer to how I have been nick-named as Redneck-Hippy before . . . I probably should have gone with that as a user name.

To go deeper, It's all about the empowerment that comes with having a tool that you know is completely solid, this is something so ancient, immediate and primal in human heritage. So there is that aspect of how a blade reinforces intention and sovereignty, a blade is not only an instrument with the potential to take life. Arguably, those who do not have even an appreciation for an edged tool even on a utilitarian level are missing the point that Knife-enthusiasts embrace. That being It's aspect and usage as accoutrements that preserve life and well-being.

Finally, for now, something else I have a knack for is convex profiling and sharpening knives using my own stones and tools, I did some minor convexing and stripping of the main bevel on my CHLC, I also plan on improving in this area and offering that as a service for those interested.

Ricky at Stabbers Steel connection is a great source for all kinds of knives. I got a great custom made by my deceased uncle Glen Hornby. We surprised my older brother with it a few Christmases ago.

The Chop House looks great!

Thank you for the Kind words KJL , Enjoy it

Thank you Bigfatty ! I actually Have another one From Uncle Glen available ;)

Well... you also haven't had a Busse before either. Sounds like the addiction is kicking in. You'll break in nicely. :)

I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, but you'll want to be careful advertising products and/or services before upgrading your membership. That said, I look forward to seeing your work on both fronts. Quality craftsmen and sharpening services are always welcome.

I've had the Lean Cut and the Thick Cut CH. Personally I like the higher saber grind of the thick cut better, but both are sweet to be sure. Congrats on your grab and it's a great time to buy Busses on the exchange.

And... wow. Member since 2009 and just started posting now. Glad to see Busse brought you out of lurking.

Congrats, and FYI, the thick house is not much heavier because the saber grind is so much higher. So you are not missing out much!

Welcome!
One, is all you need but that's up to you.
I also endorse Ricky.
