Hi Folks!
After wasting about 100 lbs. of steel, I have finally figured it out! I've been trying to get the spiders in the blade for a while, and was so excited when it happened, I had to show it!

This is the first image I've tried posting to the forum, hope it works.

ED, that is really good, how do you get the spiders to stay in mine always burn out, I've tried grandaddy longlegs and wolf spiders, but seriously that is realy nice. Any chance of info on how you did it?

i don't know how you do that, but it's amazing, how much would you charge for a small peice, say 8"x 1 1/4'x 1/8"?

Sure! I'll do the best I can to explain it in a personal email to you. But so I don't waste a lot of space here......it's 1 radial pattern bar, and 3 jellyroll pattern bars, put together with 15N20 spacers, and then accordian folded open. The spider just look like a series of bullseyes until you grind.

Magnum,
Don't puke..........your looking at about $25 an inch for bar stock of this stuff! This whole knife is only 6", and 3/4" at it's widest point. I started with about 6 1/2 pounds of steel! That the tough part of Mosaics, they look nice, but about 70% of the material ends up on the floor, to be swept up later.

Ed,
That is a lot of hard work. And a great deal of waste. It sure looks like it was worth it, though.

Great job Ed. Looking forward to seeing your work in person at the Blade Show!

Matt.

That really looks fantastic! When I see work like this I feel like I'm still in Kindergarden. Your skills are truly impressive.

well, sorry ed he stuff is beautiful. the highest price i'm able to pay is $10 per inch. even that's sreching my limits. i'm trying to put money into fixing the used surface grinder i got. thanks anyway.

Now that looks good.

I also don't think that anyone would consider it wasting space if you shared how you made it. I know I would like to know. I haven't tried anything like that yet, but I will sometime.

Ed,

That Damascus is beautiful!!
Guys, Ed made me a 3 1/2", 5160, hunter with the best looking Desert Ironwood handle I have ever seen! It is attached with Mosiac pins. Excellent workmanship! It really cuts and is so easy to sharpen. Love those properly forged blades! Ed you will be hearing from me in the near future!

Ed stop by sometime and I can show you a little on not wasting as much damascus when spreading a bar.
