Couldn't say no.

... quality torx set

JDM Vessel brand. $2.50 for the set. Some hard bargaining.

I will try to do a nice photo essay today.

It's lock up is factory fresh. No play.

Do they still sell the parts kit for these?

I took it all apart and found it was rusted solid!
Tools:
Glass platen
Dental picks
Rodico
Diamond pastes
bambo chopsticks
denatured alcohol
1k~3k sandpaper
WD40
fiberglass scratch brushes
Method:
Soak, Scrub Repeat on the big parts.

Pivots and screws get detailed with the dental tools and scratch brushes.

washers get rubbed down then onto the platen for a quick rub down to remove any burs.

Liners then get some special attention with polishing up the contact areas with the washers.

And assemble.

Rubbed the liners and standoffs (correct term?) with some Tuffcloth.
Tuffglide the contact points in the pivot area.
Locktite the screws.

Finished!
It is glass smooth now and solid lock up on par with my thousand+ dollar customs.

This is my first Spyderco dissembly and I think it went well. For the price spyderco charges for these it is WORTH IT! Tolerances were perfect.

Little OCD advice:
Take it apart in a big plastic bag to contain parts and rust.
Keep the small bits in cups of denatured alcohol. (This helps clean and prevent contamination.)
Use small bronze tweesers to handle the bits and Rodico the contact points before assembly. Use dental tools/bamboo to help manipulate parts.

Overkill? You bet! I enjoy it throughly though.

For a 3 dollar knife I am pleased.

This was a milsurp knife: It was used hard as nature intended. Likely parted ways in the trashcan due to it not working before the resto.

Nice work! Always a warm fuzzy feeling seeing a win-win... the original owner got his money's worth out of the knife, but you now also have a like-new Endura to enjoy for a bargain price

Good for you. Years and years ahead on that Endura. Great save

Neat thread!
I like seeing process like this. I also have some Vessel screwdrivers.

Look at all that wear on the clip. Someone carried that thing for a long time before parting ways with it.

I've had black clips wear down nearly that bad in a month or two of carry. Now if I get a knife with a Japanese black clip, I always strip the paint and brush.

Which brings up the question, did you strip and brush or polish the clip, petah?
