It arrived yesterday- a beat up 110. Previously all the 110's i bought were so nice or at least clean upable that i couldn't bring myself to use any of them!!

This one is supposed to be from 1980 but the Brass wont clean up at all. It looks like crap no matter what. Im actually kinda happy it was in this poor state that doesnt affect the usefulness of the Knife as now im gonna use it! Hooray!

Congrats on your new user. That is odd that the brass won't clean up. What are you using ?
It doesn't say Pakistan on it anywhere does it ?:D Just kidding

How interesting,,,I have gathered some nasty 110's along the way. There isn't a one of them that I can't clean up the brass on.

Yours sounds like a rare one. :D

In his ad, he said that the some of the "plating" had worn off the Brass and something did- That is revealed in the Q & A part of the ad which i hadnt read but anyway im happy i finally have a hopeless knife that will cut stuff beautifully. There are also rust marks on the Brass that wont budge. im using Wright's Brass polish/cleaner.

PS- there is one dot to the left and two to the right-Where does it put it date wise?

The brass on that knife is solid brass and not plated.

Might try brasso on it. Age sounds right.

I'm wondering if someone might have lacquered the brass thinking it would prevent the natural tarnishing of the brass.

It's been a while, but a few past posts describe some processes of actually sanding the brass and then polishing with brasso to restore it. Just takes some elbow grease and very very fine sand paper. Results can be amazing.

But then you might not want to EDC it. And a three Dot is somewhat collectible.

Maybe they did, I think ill try the sandpaper thing- got nothing better to do but i doubt i have the SP in the house so probably not tonight.

So Brasso is the best? This Wright's i have is damn strong smelling. I just looked at the ingredients-It says Ammonia first-then abrasive. I assume Brasso is different-Anyone? I dont want to buy something else if its gonna be substantially the same. Thanks

Just found info on Brasso-by weight it is mostly petroleum distillate, secondly Crystalline Silica (Abrasive) and thirdly ammonia hydroxide. A little different-ill give it a try.

Yes,,,Brasso has ammonia, as you have figured out.

I guess since I had to use it in the army so many years ago, I have stuck with it. Get the 8 oz can or smaller. Will last forever. And I have tried some others...just prefer the Brasso

I have actually been sitting here sanding on a 110 frame that had some minute nicks in it. Using 1000 grit wet/dry.
Kind of slow going but is getting there. I was just too lazy to dig out the 800 or 600 grit to get it started before finishing up with the 1000.

I only go 320 grit if the scratches are really bad. Tape off the wood so you don't get too far out and sand on the pins any.

You can actually polish the wood with the brasso also.

:eek::eek::eek: That looks like a helluva nice looking 3 dot. That aint not beater user. For $43 plus shipping dont take any chances, send it to Buck or Leroy for a spa treatment!!! If the other side of the knife looks as good as the side shown, it should clean up mint. If you want a beater I'll send you my 100th anny in exchange( I'll pay shipping on both)
top knife

Damn-Im never gonna get a user. I just sent two into the Spa- I have about 3 more that could go-maybe ill add this one. Thanks for the advice.

I was just looking at that 'beater' again and man that baby snaps closed hard like a steel trap-If your finger is in the way, you are going to have a real nice Buck Bite to show- real nice. The one thing i cant stand is when you open and close a blade and can feel/hear the grit in there. Those are the ones that go back for Spa Treatment but not the case with this 'beater'.
