This is number 2 for us and it will help tide me over 'till the 18" Ang Khola gets in.

I need to check out the HI website too. I am kinda wondering about a 9" to 12" Chainpuri after the AK.
Someone said they had that real nice ******** feeling?

God I'm glad someone else got the 21 incher before I had time to reconsider.

Only one left is the Chainpuri. I think these villagers have been spruced up in shop 2 but am not certain. I'll try to find out this weekend when I call Kami.

Uncle Bill

Rusty, I got the 21 incher - if you decide you want to swap, drop me an e-mail. But, based on the way I feel about my 18" HI Sirupati, I think you'll find the 19 incher to be pretty close to the perfect khukuri size.

What do you mean swap?

I wouldn't have bought the 21"er INSTEAD of the 19"er, I'd have bought it IN ADDITION TO the 19"er. And I have two 17" chainpuris ( one 14 oz, the other 20 oz ) and a 20" chainpuri, weight not known. An 18 oz 19"er is more my style than a 24 oz 21"er.

But thank you for the offer. Enjoy the 21", if you like light martial blades I think you'll be very happy with it. Like I told Ghost, I'm 5'4" tall, with size 8 shoes and proportionate hands. 19" should be good, every 20+" I've tried, even the chainpuri,is too much.

I just stuck it in the mail, Rusty. You should have it Tuesday and I think this is one you will not swap or give away, generous fellow you are.

Uncle Bill

Looks like I took off for the weekend just as these beauties hit the forum.

Oh well. I'll be watching for more when I get back in August from vacation. All you guys have fun with your new village khukuris.

Paul, the 16.5 inch Chainpuri is still available. Take a look. It's a pretty decent little khukuri. If you want it send email and I can get it into the mail today.

Uncle Bill

Sorry, Paul. It just went but we will be getting more of these villagers soon.

Everything is gone until next shipment.

Uncle Bill

Got back from the holiday and had a nice surprise at the office. THANK YOU, Bill. I am surprised that you remembered my order for an longer village khukuri. Looks like the second from the top. It is really fascinating to see how each khuhuri has its own distinctive features/spirit.

I just got to used the 17" sirupati at camp. Looking forward to trying this new one out. My neighbor saw the sirupati, tried a couple of whacks and is now hooked. He's retired so he is going to have to save his change. I leave my villager up there so he can borrow it any time since he has key to the camp. Have to let him try the others so he can figure out what he wants.
Have to keep him from getting addicted though. His wife would not approve...

I am getting curious about the different styles of Khukuris. The difference between the Sirupati and the Chainpuri seem to be that the Sirupati has a notch (cho?) and the Chainpuri doesn't. Is this right?

Also I can't see any difference between the Dhankuta and the Ang Khola. I would appreciate if someone could tell me the difference between these thanks.

Hi Allanm:

There is a distinct difference in the cho of the Chainpuri and Sirupati although the blade form is very similar. The Chainpuri cho is enclosed, up a half inch or so from the edge of the blade. Don't know if you can see it very well from the pix. And, the Chainpuri handle has the large bell on the end and usually has only a keeper rather than some sort of buttcap.

The Ang Khola has a spine in the chopping area. Other blade forms do not. Ang Khola means curved spine -- or at least this is what the kamis tell me.

Uncle Bill

Uncle Bill,

I see the difference in the cho between the Sirupati and the Chainpuri. I don't quite understand what you mean by a spine on the Ang Khola but I will look when mine shows up. (A Star Trek teleporter would come in real handy now.

Thanks.

Clay, without you and Cliff to help me I would be working 15 hours per day instead of 12. Thanks!
