i bought 1k grit gesshin and 5k gesshin waterstones around 2 months ago and have been practicing on my cheap knife, recently i sharpen my roach belly and i finally achieved mirror shine. i cannot cut free hanging hair but it is shaving sharp.
this was first time i got a razor sharp

Oh I'm so........so sorry.....in a day or so you'll get board then every knife you own will have a mirror edge lol.
Anyway nice job man!
 
If the goal is the mirror shine, I'd highly recommend the Spyderco ultrafine ceramic benchstones (306UF). It will put a real mirror on a bevel. You will only get a so-so mirror with a 5k water stone. But the real question is: why are you focusing on the "mirror" of the bevel more than the cutting properties of the edge? A mirror polish should be a side-effect of sharpening... not the goal.

i said i got it razor sharp and mirror, i have not been able to do that in the past
 
Ahh, sorry, I misunderstood. I read this line: "i finally achieved mirror shine" and it sounded like you were saying that you were trying to get a mirror shine, like that was your goal.
