well, what i realy wanted all along was a benchmade 705. i actually wanted this even more than a sebenza(love the axis lock). seriously! anyways, i did not buy one because all the dealers had only 705 combo edge. i did not want to order online because benchmades q.c. is not too keen.
well, after all that i did buy a 705 with a combo edge!

not exactly! heres what i got, it is a bm705 combo edge. but, it has the g10 scales replaced with bright pink dyed carbon fiber(very well done, i must add) so the handle is super pink with black squarish polka dots! the blade: the guy i got it from said it is titainium. i doubt that. it says 154cm benchmade on it. BUT, the blade is a pale green! it is not satin. it is really noticibly different when held next to a regular 705. so figure a pink snakeskin looking handle and a pale green blade! perfect for slaying goblins on halloween!
now i know what your saying, "this has got to be dead ugly!" well, to most people it probably would be, but i have a passion for the different. i wear yellow shoes with blue laces! if i had a digicam i would take a pic. but i don't.

for those who want to know, i bought this used(not noticibly) from a dude i know. i had a hard time getting him to part with it. he said he got it at a show in indiana last year. i figure it is one of a kind(or close to). i doubt it has any value as it is bassicly a (good) hack job. but, i love it! finally i am done looking! at least for a little while. i paid about twice what a bm705 cost's online. i am very pleased! even though it has serations i got it because it is special(to me, at least) and i doubt i would find another one like it. i figured everyone will ask "wtf is that" every time i take it out. i love those kind of reactions! the blade has been reground to a better angle(scarry sharp). the q.c. on this one is dead on. in a word perfect! at least to me it is. my only complaint is that i can feal it in my pocket(thickness) big deal. i'll get used to it.
actually, this might become another case queen next to my seb! i'd cry if i lost it, or it got taken. nah, i'll use it.
o.k. sorry for bragging so much! but, have you ever seen me say something positive since i have been around here?
now, please don't break my heart and say my knife sucks!
and, please no nasty jokes about a dude carrying a pink knife!

o.k., now i have a couple of questions for y'all. first, i want to take one of my wifes pink patent leather shoe-laces and make a lanyard. like the way it comes on a new seb. i don't know how to wrap it! ok, so i am stupid! is there a diagram somewhere online that shows how to wrap a lanyard?
second:, how am i supposed to find my posts(to reply to them) with search disabled? i am not complaining, just wondering if there is another quick way for me to locate MY posts?

finally, i can sleep!

couldn't chris just call it a hangman's noose?

I guess that would invoke too many bad images...

The noose formerly known as the hangman's noose?

One cool knot for the end of a lanyard is the Monkey's Fist which is used by Sailors and Wharf workers to weigh down the end of a rope in order to facilitate throwing.

I need to see pics of this, uh, unique sounding knife.:D Try to get some for us, O.K.? Scans or anything. Thanks

thank you! that is exactly what i needed, a diagram. i have since discovered(last couple of hours) there are about 500 diferent knots! now i can go crazy and preseverate over that!
hangman and knives, lol. that might be a little much!

as for pictures, i do not have a scanner or a cam. i guess in some time i could go to kinkos and scan it, but i wonder if it would come out ledgible? i should'nt have told you guys about this, not having a cam. now i am sure i am going to be called a liar(add to the list of nasties). i doubt i'll have pic's by the time this thread dies, but i'll see what i can do. maybe a friend has a cam(thinking).
anyways, i couldn't conceal my excitement. most folks would probably think this thing is for a sissy. but, not i!
if you want some sort of an idea of what dyed carbon fiber looks like go to www.bokerusa.com click on online-shop and then click on klotzli.
as for the blade, the color tint is rather subtle. i would probably need a 5 megapixel cam to get it good(good luck!). it is definatly not the standard blade color, though. i compared it to one at a store.

happy at last,

and so knots and ropes are my next hobby... It's a little rough to try to learn a knot or knot system while on the side of a rock or a building.

Come to think of it, I have been stuck on the rock and had to yank out the book and try to figure out the best way down.

Most "stopper" knots will do well on the end of a Lanyard, Some do well only with stranded twist ropes, but most of us use paracord or Kermantle rope... now, names for the knots vary, but here are a few...

1) Stopper Knot, which is similar to the hangman's noose, but no noose
2) Sink Stopper
3) Stevedore Knot

A quick search on google will yield instructions on how to tie them.

Next...
Holdanedge,
I'm glad you found a knife you like. I don't know how you did it cause I have about twenty benchmade automatics, in 6 models in each and every blade style and different edges and I still can't limit myself to one. On top of that, assorted auto, manuals, and fixed blades, and I would DIE if I had to limit myself to just one.

What's your next "gotta have" quest?

thank you for the knot info! knot's are pretty cool. i had forgotten that knots are a whole science! anyways, i am my usual idiotic self. after it took me an hour (yes, an hour) to figure out the simpleton reeve knot, i decided i don't want a lanyard on this knife! lol. it is too small of a knife and i end up grasping the lanyard where i should be grasping the knife. if you understand that.
well, this is certainly not my last knife. just one i am happy with for the moment. knife's have not been important to me like the way they probably are to everyone else here. but, they are becoming that way to me also. i guess i am obssesive/compulsive! i get "onto" different hobbies every month or so. i do not give them up either! i collect watches, pens, flash lights, h.o. railroad, guns, comic books, baseball cards,coins,guitars..... the list goes on. the majer problem i have with not narrowing it down to one or two things like most people, is that on a middle income, none of my collections become particularly impressive. i have like 3-5 items in each collection. i guess this sounds stupid. but, i enjoy this silliness. anyways, i was going to get a seb(another) untill i got this. now my next (expensive) knife may either be the strider frame lock or the darrell ralph edc. i can't bring my self to buy the camillus edc now that i found out their is a nicer one(darrell ralph). crud, there are a lot of super cool knives. if only i could put all my money into ONE hobby.
well, i like to diversify!

furthermore, i want to clear something up right now, before this issue comes up. i honestly doubt that this knife i got yesterday evening left the benchmade factory in it's current state of dress. anything is possible, but it is very doubtfull. what is much more likely, is that some guy/gal bought the knife and took it apart and did this to it. the work is very good, so they may have had experience with knives. i have no idea who did this to it, and i doubt i will ever find out. as for the blade, it seems to have a green gun bluing applied to it. if there is a green gun bluing. it may have been green glass tint. it may have been a titainium coating(i wish). maybe, that is why the guy that sold it to me mentioned it is titainium(it is indeed a 154cm blade). the green is receeding from the edge a little, so i can see the original shiny blade.

now for the sad part! my happiness has already wained a bit. i noticed a very small(but apparently quite deep) scratch running verticly behind the very last 1/16" of the tip of the blade. could this cause the tip to break off, if i was using the tip in the normal manner in which a tip would be used? i certainly hope not. if this is bad, it will certainly spoil my "high".

hopefully this knife will keep me content for a few days, before i go blow my paycheck on my "next" hobby! oh, melancholymutt, i actually haven't decided what i "need" next. luckily!

thank you.
holdanedge.

you are forgivin!

hey, i am going to bed for like a day! i got the flu or something and feel like crud. so, those of you that don't hate me too much, please try to defend me in this thread. as, i am sure the flames are starting to lick at my feet! hehehehe, it is only 6:30 a.m. here.

I got Strep throat... I had one or two Vicodin HP's and I took them and they wore off. Now, I'm in a world of hurt...LOL

So just buy a good digital camera, take a few pics, then take the camera back like you did with all those other knives:D Sorry, I had to say it;)

Mike

It's got a scratch on it? Near the tip? It's junked. It will never hold up doing normal work, you better get rid of it before you hurt yourself or someone else. Don't forget to get us a pic of that piece of crap before you throw it away.

db, i hope you are being sarcastic. i do not know why you need to use a nasty tone with me. it is already established that i am a schmuck, so please be more kind. seriously, i thought a deep scratch at the tip could weaken it, i don't know. the only stupid question is the one you don't ask. i was asking a serious question i did not know the answer to. why mock me?

anyways, i think i know how this knife got like it is. the guy who had it must have gotten the 705 forum knife. dyed the handles pink, and replaced the blade(for whatever reason) and died that pale green. he may in fact have used food coloring or glass or epoxy tints. the handles are on real good so i figure this is what happened. maybe he broke the blade and while he had it apart he decided to jazz it up. i know lot's of you guys jazz up knives, it's nothing new. the reason i think he dyed the handles topically is because the color is not nearly as lusturous as the bokers i pointed out above. the bokers have the dye mixed with the resin when the fabric is laid up. i would think.

as for ehem, borrowing a digital camera, all the electronic stores here have 20% restocking fee. on an $800 camera, uh forget that idea.
when i did that with the knives i had an agreement with the salesman, i did nothing shady there. if i figure out some way to get it scanned or something i'll do it. then the fact remains that i am not allowed to post attachments here as far as i know. luckily cameras don't float my boat like all these other neat gadjets. please don't get me started on cameras, i gotta feed my family too!

melancholymutt, i understand how you feal about knives, i am already looking on the web for more knives. actually i thought the sebenza was the sh*t. contrar! i found a walker damiscus for $4,000. that is what i want. if i ever get it, well that's doubtfull. but honestly i think my next knife should be a one of a kind custom, i already have half the benchmade line. production knifes don't really do it for me. i want one that is bejewelled. in a few month's of saving i should be able to spring for $1,000. hopefully that will get me something decent.

>>>now please read this! i know this is totally off topic but....
i am sitting here dripping sweat, i can barely walk, my temperture is 103.7! i figured i have the flu. but, i went last week to a fishin' hole and got torn up by mesquitos. 11 people got west nile at that same place! 1 old man died! i think as soon as it is light out i will go to the e.r.. it is one thing to flame me for being an idiot. please don't make a joke about this. it is my life we may be talking about. so, if you guys do not see me for a few days it is because i am sick. i hope i come back to see nice comments, if anyone posts in this thread, and not insults. i know what people say on the internet should not bother me, but for some reason it does. i think we all know i am a little weird :)

thank you,
holdanedge.

I'm in NYC where the entire thing pretty much started and a lot more people got hit with it than was publicized. Most normally healthy people get over it easily with a physician's care. Most of the publicized deaths were due to complicating health factors along with age. The very young and senior citizens with health complications are most at risk, and as your status moves closer in between these two groups, your chances of surviving the illness increases dramatically.

Keep an eye on your fever, if it rises, do not wait till light to visit the emergency room. Otherwise, seek medical attention, but don't worry about dying.

Nasty? Don’t be such a p ussy. I for one don’t believe you have this pink 705, nor do I believe yu have the Benza you say you do. Digital camera, don’t they have a Wal-Mart by you? 20% restocking fee sure they do. Funny I have even seen throw away Digital cameras. Come on get those knife pics up and prove me wrong, that you are not a p ussy and a liar. I am done with your bs until the pics are here.

Note, BlueJacket is my good friend and ex-coworker... Lieutenant Dave D*, ex-navy officer.

BlueJacket: A Monkey's fist is typically used on what is called a "heaving line".... to "throw" a line s/b correctly termed "heaving" the line.... and, sailors almost always include a weight around which the monkey's fist is tied, to make a heavier projectile..." Landlubber!!!! LOL
MelancholyMutt: yo, what sailors should do is heave their dumb ass into the ocean...
MelancholyMutt: you reading my posts? LOL
BlueJacket: hehe... don't use "lubberly" phrases.....
BlueJacket: yeah
MelancholyMutt: stand by for my edit...
BlueJacket: k
BlueJacket: in the edit, at least have the common decency to admit to being lubberly......LOL

So there... Sailors don't throw... they heave...

They heave baseballs... they heave up when they drink too much, and when they were little sailor babies, they heave Tantrums when they don't get their way...
What do I care? I was Infantry!
Happy?

i live by a navy base. they certainly do a lot of heaving around here at the bars. i guess swabbies don't hold their liquer too well.
hey, melancholymutt, i really appreciate that you were serious when the time called for being so. i went to the hospital, i did NOT have west nile. i did, however have an ear infection and the flu. the method in which they lowered my temperture was not pleasent. plus i got two iv's....good times.

as for you db, you are obviously not a nice guy.

I'm only posting this publicly because there's no e-mail button on your post...

We all know you're kidding about the Glock, but even joking references to violence is seriously uncool. It might also lead to legal problems in the future... My thought is that you should take it down before administration gets upset with you.

as for you db, you are obviously not a nice guy. i for one am a nice guy. so i will make this proposition to you. just post your name, addresse and phone number in this thread. i will call you shortly and arrange to BRING the knife to your doorstep, for you to peruse. you do live in wisconsin, correct? this way, to the next guy that says that i do not have such a knife, you can stand by my side telling them "he most certainly does!". i am not allowed to post attachments here even if i had the ability to do so. hey, i was wondering since i will be coming to see you anyways. do you like guns too? i just got a great glock 9mm. pistol. i could bring that with too. i would love to show it to you.
have a nice day, db.

Just in case this wussy gets smart and takes MelancholyMutt advice.
