After five months using a friend's grinder, I finally got my new belt grinder yesterday, with a slight delay of about two months! Man, it really was messing with my homour sense...
I put it to work this morning and have been playing with it all day, to the point that my armes and chest are aching from the extra effort, but it is great to have a grinder at home again - sort of a comforting feeling. Yes, i am happy! :) :D :)

Ivan it is always much more fun using your own machine when you feel ilke it.

Thank you for posting the thumb nail for that horse shoe knife it is totally different to the ones I make. I basicaly straighten mine out a bit, forge a little then grind the rest.

You and the grinder will become great friends! Burnt fingers and missing skin will become common place but shouldn't dampen your smile much..... What type did you get?

Congratulations Ivan! There's nothing like new tools to brighten up the day. :D You may not have noticed it yet, but I'm betting your hair and nose are full of steel dust too... Time to go get a boxcar load of belts now!

Hello, guys

More good news: I just found out the bench rest I made for my last grinder won't fit the new one and must be adapted... :(

Ellery, that is how I feel, even though my friend, knifemaker Ariovaldo Lopes, would allow me to use his shop whenever I needed, and his double arm belt grinder had been mine years ago, so I was quite used to it. There is nothing like waking up with something in mind and go straight to the shop to make it something real.

Ray, it is a beefed up local version of the KMG. I bough one just like it late last year and sold it months ago to a friend who needed a grinder on a rush. No problem, I though, I'll be getting mine in a couple weeks...

Dave, I sometimes think I am a dustmaker and the knives are only a byproduct... I had gotten a bunch of Klingspor belt grinders in August, when I was supposed to havbe received the machine, and they have been sitting here all this time but won't last much now, for sure!

Just trying it out for the moment, IG, but I should have something to show until the end of the week, I hope.

A few hours later...

Just forged a 6 1/2" long drop point utility knife and ground it to shape with no problems - the thing works fine and smooth!
If things keep going this way, I can even finish a couple blades this week, IG!
And I am so happy with what I did that I am not even feeling the nasty cut I put on the palm of my right hand trying to taper the tang of a sharp blade - ok, ok, don't say a word...
