Tried to get LVUK #2 from the 27th as a project knife for after Blade show...it was long gone, and Auntie offered me a better KLVUK at the same price.
I did less work on my KLVUK "blem" than I have on any of the non-HI khuks I've owned (that weren't 50 years old). Managed to sneak it in to my day's kydex work as well...
Thank you Yangdu! This is possibly my favorite khuk to date.image.jpg
Right outta the triangle box,
image.jpg after some reshaping of the hilt (only to suit my preference) and a minor repair,

Nice look JW. I think you will be very happy with the way that knife just sort of gets down in the mud and gets the job done. I think of it as a blue collar knife. Good honest hard worker that would clean up just fine, but would rather be out cutting something down with the time it would take to clean up.

Another beautiful piece of wood on that handle. Nice grain pattern to it.
Looks very well put together. Seem to be doing the KLVUK's even nicer than they have in the past. Seen some real beauts of late.
Does that one have a kami mark on it by chance, more of those lately too.

That is one good looking khuk, the wood is very nice, but it looks nekid with that plastic on it, just kidding man the kydex looks great

Lol Pugs...still trying to get stuff together for Blade, so no time for complex sheaths...
I'll probably do a traditional wood-covered-in-leather rig with the chakmak that broke my head, and a karda...but kydex works and it is instant gratification.
Bawanna, no kami mark. 3/8" thick, distal tapered-16" OAL, and I haven't weighed it yet, but it's pretty quick.
Edit:18oz. on the nose.

Your able to type and do all that with a broken head? Tough as nails this JW fella.
Blade must be a knife show or something? I mean I know, I know everything but those less knowing folks that don't know ya know?

Blade is the bi international knife show in Atlanta-first year I'm exhibiting (first year I'm going at all, really)

Those are my ideal specs for a KLVUK. And the KLVUK is probably my favorite khukuri, all things considered. Congrats on that great deal you got, I would have jumped on it.

When bladesmiths like JW (and others) buy khukuris from HI, I think it says a lot about the quality and value of HI knives.

I had that same thought Mr. Tall. I see the quality and value but I'm not bladesmith. When the real ones concur that's a huge stamp of approval, kind of validates my feeble thoughts and speaks volumes to those considering a purchase.

I type this with one hand while I fondle and caress (very carefully) my Suga knife. What a gem. Few more should hit their new homes today I'm thinking.

Steve- I agree about the KLVUK. I'm glad it wasn't the first one I bought, because I don't need another.
The grind on mine is quite a bit higher than my gelbu or my sirupati-it bites on wood like a bolo or parang, which most khuks don't. It's not a bad martial khuk either-the point is kinda bonecuttery, but it penetrates just fine thrusting on heavy cardboard.
I have khuks from several sources-gifts, trades and That Auction Website scores-and they all required work to be fully serviceable (except the 7" blade chiruwa tamang my friend brought me from Nepal-that just needed handle tlc)
The only mods I've done to HI's were either blem repairs like crack fills, sharpening, or grip reshaping, which is 100% my knife OCD and 0% any kind of flaw.
