Finally...

I order my first Khukuri, after drooling for a while at all the great pic around here.

It´s a 18 inch chiruwa AK with satisal wood handle.

I've a couple pics taked by Yangdu for me; but unfortunately I can't load them into the forum.

Many thanks to all you that patiently aswered my questions and provide advise...

Extra thanks to Yangdu for your patience in dealing with my multiple questions for the purchase.

It should arrive anytime now to my mailing address... unfortunately I'll be able to going and pick it up until next weekend... hope I can withstand the waiting.

Regards

Great choice Rosh.
When I'm home to hear the mail truck up the road, and I'm waiting for a HI box, I go running outside like a 9 year old kid waiting for my package of *Seamonkeys to arrive! : )

*Seamonkeys: back in the my childhood, Seamonkeys were a packet for sale in the back of comic books, you'd add water and these little almost microscopic krill or whatever would swim around and die...in the add however, they had wonderful atlantean cities...:)

Also, if you host your pics with http://www.photobucket.com, you can post them here, and I, for one, would love to see them...:)

Hmmm.... let's see if I can make this works...

Rosh, congrats on ordering such a lovely Khukuri. Who ever made that handle had a good eye and did a wonderfull job. The lines are pretty straight for being hand made. Both CAK's are making me drool.

I've heard about that... I think there is a South Park episode I saw with such things as part of the plot..

I like that handle! Now get out there and chop something!

I love it too !... originally I wanted something with horn; but when I saw the picture, I couldn't resist.

Problem is I live in a rather urban and also desertic area... so I think I'll need to go and get some 2x4 just to give this beauty a try when it arrives... :D

Do you care to elaborate a bit about this ?... how is that procedure ?

Rosh,
Yeah, I think I saw that South Park...lol.
As far as the Tru-oil goes, I am a novice, a noob ,a neophyte at it, but I am a Tru believer. Check out the 'Refinishing Wood Handles" post in the Cantina, started by Fergusen for some really great info on bringing out the soul of the wood. Once I started one handle, all of the wood handles in the house looked horrible and are on the list.

Welcome to the 18 inch club! For those of us swinging 18 inches around . . . well, we just do it right. ;)

Enjoy! Satistal is pretty wood.

moblues,
We need t-shirts with your last post on it, along with a pic of a khuk as a disclaimer...

Diving in with both feet! Well done. That is a monster of a chopper. You will be amazed at the wonderul feel of these hand made tools. Be very careful, you will cut through stuff you don't think you can. Read the safety sticky.

That is one of the most beautiful handles I've seen on an AK!

That has a nice handle. My CAK has been sent off to my good friend Aliloff for a little tweaking. I thought some osage orange handles would be in order. :D

Indeed , that is one fine looking handle on that AK.
make sure you read the finishing/refinishing threads.

Ferguson(it think?) has a tru oil procedure that would make that handle even more stunning than it already is.
