The wife came through and got me the exact knife I asked for. The Spyderco Dragonfly Nishijin ZDP-189.

I've been a liner lock guy for the most part recently (Kershaw Leek) so the lock will take a little getting used to again, but what a piece!

The scales are absolutely beautiful, and no picture I've seen on-line has done them justice. I'm not exactly sure how much she paid for this knife, but it is by far my most expensive!

I'll try to get some good pix up tomorrow.

That is a great knife. I have one for a Sunday Go to Meetin' knife.

I feel bad for you, though. Spydercos are addicting.

Well, I looked around a lot. Looked at my existing knives, realized that I don't carry anything over 2.5", and selected this blade. I'm not saying that this is the last knife I'll ever purchase, but like my bike, once I got the frame and components I wanted, I've not looked for anything else since.

I love the Dragonfly knife, especially. I bought a G10, then and FRN, then and FRN, then a Nishijin (gorgeous), and then...you can see how it goes.

That Nishijin model is stunning, isn't it. If you look closely you can see it shift 3D patterns and it looks to be a half inch deep. I love it. Being such a small, slim knife, it is easy to carry and cuts like a bit knife.

Yes, I find myself staring at it, rocking it back and forth in the light. It has so much depth (as you mentioned) that it seems deeper than it is thick!

That is why I spent so much time looking into these knives. I knew I didn't want the regular scales, and I'd have settled for G10, but I asked specifically for this knife as my theory is, it is cheaper to buy the correct item first, than it is to keep buying the wrong item.

Welcome to the Spyderco family.

You can't go wrong with any of the Dragonflys. It's easily my most carried knife. I usually carry the G10 but I also have the ZDP, H1 and standard VG-10 FRN models in black and orange and they all see pocket time. That Nishijin model is just gorgeous!
