Hey all, just wanted to introduce myself!

I just pulled the trigger on my first CRK, an Umnumzaan. Its the exact combo I wanted; old style pivot, old jimping but with the lbs. Call me weird but I like having the stabilizer.

I made an offer and got it for $390 off the bay, now I just have to scour this forum looking at pics until it gets here! it'll take the top spot in my edc rotation along with two sprint run spydies, a manix 2 and a lum tanto.

Now I just need to resist getting a sebbie, this could get ugly...

Congrats! I was doing the same until today. I just got a large insingo w/ micharta inlays on a trade. This is also my first.

You made the right choice. I've owned 4 Sebenza's and one Zaan. The Zaan is the only one that stayed.

Congrats:thumbup: I have the old style pivot with lbs and its the business. Bet you'll have that Sebbie soon:D

This picture is now embedded into my brain holding me over until it gets here. :D

For my wallet's sake I hope not! And yeah the old style pivot is what made it unique IMO. Plus it looks way more badass.

Congrats, can't wait to see pics of it, even though I know what they look like, it's always fun to see someone's genuine knife.

After owning a new Startac with the new pivot and taking it apart to clean and lube it up...I have to say this is an incredibly incredibly strong/large pivot...I don't think CRK sacrificed anything with this change. Just my 2 cents!

Good to hear that from someone unbiased, but holding the knife in hand. Thank you!

I have no doubts about the new pivots strength.

The want for an older model with the original pivot was purely based on looks. I think the old one is very unique to the zaan.

I have 2 wilson combat umnumzaans, got em both for a great price. The second one i bought with the intent on selling the other one, but couldnt do it.one is anodized bronze that i got off the exchange, the other is slightly scotch brited.i had a star-tac & regular zaan in the past, but sold em because it didnt somehow click with me. now it has, to a point where its going to take something real incredible to buy to equal these knives.i hold them in the highest regard.you made a great choice in buying one.I think i found the perfect knife(bet youve all heard that before)....

I picked up the same knife, my first CRK, a few weeks back (Umnumzaan, old-style pivot and jimping, LBS with no logo). Fantastic knife. Within a week of that I got my hands on another, this time with a tanto blade installed and an extra standard blade (new jimping). It's great. I'm going to sell the first one because I like the tanto better, but there's just no way to go wrong with these. I had to see what all the fuss was about regarding CRKs and as soon as I got one it made sense. I've had only a few knives before these (BM 755, ZT 0550) and while those are very nice the CRK is truly excellent and just exudes quality. My guess is you'll be very impressed.

I'm hoping I'll be impressed! It's due to arrive today so we'll see!

I love tantos if they're done right. I think the Zaan is, however I already own a Spyderco Bob Lum Tanto Sprint Run. I love the Lum's blade as it's more toward a traditional tanto than the Americanized version. It also has a beast of a convex grind on the tip and the whole blade is THICK.

I can remember sitting in my truck in the post office parking lot opening up the package. It was my first CRK.....wow did it feel great in the hand and so solid!! That was a year and a half ago. Now I pick it up and wow does it feel great in the hand and so solid!! Really I guess it feels better as it has all the little marks that make it mine. Take the time to admire it....it is like that first date :D. Learning how to open took a little while but thinking back on that is even fun. You are going to love it I am sure. And send some pictures.

I can't wait until mine looks like that =)

Yeah I would imagine flicking up on the stud instead of out will take some getting used to but I've always thought and upward flick would feel more natural with the knife in hand.

Tracking # says it was delivered but I'm stuck at work until 4:30 and I most likely won't have time to get home before I go out tonight. AAAAAAAAAHHH!!!

I am into both these knives for less than the price of 1 hinderer;how can you beat that ?

Old pivot.... new pivot.... any Zaan is such a great knife! I have an old style pivot with S30V and it sees a good share of use especially in the spring when it's time to chop down the shrubs in the back yard.

Picked up my baby this morning at the post office and man is she a beaut!

I finally "get" CRK's. The fit and finish of this Zaan makes my Sprint Run Manix 2 look like something out of the pre-owned, $10 bin at Kittery Trading Post.
