Went to the local Dicks because they sent me a coupon; $10 off next purchase of $25 or more. I though that was a great deal so I headed over, and the wife knew there's only one section I look at at Dicks ;). I had in mind a 110, and was back and forth about one for awhile. Dicks doesn't have the best selection of knives, and they had no 110's in stock, at least none in the clam shell packaging. (The guy that helped me said the 110's are the most stolen knives from the store, and because of the price, 39.99, they don't lock them up:confused: so lock them up right?) Then I look at the display, ONE in the counter, begging for me to take it home. He said he'd sell it to me, and even give me 10% off!!! It must have been in there awhile, and never cleaned, it had finger prints stained in the brass (thank you Flitz!) Cleaned up nicely, had side to side play, tapped that out with a hammer and phone book. Still has a slight amount of vertical play though, not sure if it's normal. Great knife though for a total of $27.00!

Congratulations on your first Buck 110! You shouldn't have any play but if it's to the point that it bothers you or makes it unsafe Buck will take care of it.

P.S. Is this your first 110 AND your first Buck?

Congrats on a new 110!

Interesting that it had that much play tho. If it loosens back up, take it back to Dicks for either a new one or a refund. Can always send it to Buck for repairs on your $$ to send it. Theirs to return it.

Sorta hate to see anyone start out with a brand new one that isn't 100%

Well, when you accept a display model you may accept problems.

I'd take it back and demand a replacement that worked right, myself (even if you had to wait a week or two for a shipment to come in)......the phone book tightening process is usually a temporary measure and you'll end up sending it back to Buck eventually......and that will cost you and Buck money.

Nope just my first 110. I may send it in for the blade play, but I hate the turn around times I've seen... 10 days to 2 months!

From what others have posted hunting season is the busiest time and therefore the worst time for warranty work. You could try calling Buck and askiing for an estimate on the lead time but I would be surprised if it was very long right now. Seems like someone posted recently about sending in something and the turnaround was just a day or two.

This is usually the best time of the year, but they have been behind on regular production for a while, so I'd guess there's a wait of at least a couple of weeks on most stuff because the whole place has been pretty busy for a long time.

I've had a couple in for the spa treatment for just over four weeks now. I expect them back any day now.

I went an got another from a local Kmart. This one has much better lock up, and the blade is dead center. I guess BG42EDGE is right, you accept problems with display models. I'll be returning it, I honestly didn't want to wait for Buck to fix it, i'm too damn impatient:rolleyes: to wait to carry this beast.

Great to see that you got a good one. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine.

Date the display 110 and see what ya got. I second making Dicks replace it you may be surprised that they do and yours will be waiting behind the counter until you pick it up.
