My Kershaw Onion Whisper rolled off the FedEx truck today! Here are a couple quick shots of it. To confirm, the blade:handle ratio is a bit woppy-jawed due to the shape of the handle. Still, it's comfortable to hold.

Dexter,

First off, I always enjoy reading your articles in the magazines.

Two questions, how is the lock up on the vault lock, and how is the speedsafe?

Thanks,

Roger L. Su, D.C.

edited: by the way...It is a beautiful knife!

As are all of Ken's stuff.

Roger - thank you for your comments, I'm glad you enjoy the articles. To answer your questions - the lock up is very solid with no play in either direction. The Speed Safe is nice, though it does not have the kick that the Leek has. The blade action is very smooth as well.

Dick - blade length from tip to flipper is an exact 3". Handle length is about 4 1/4"

Couple things about this piece - the blade does appear to have a hand-rubbed finish, and there is a sliding switch safety just like the one on the Boa, that keeps the blade locked shut while in your pocket. IMHO Kershaw's got a winner here.

Hi Dex,

Great Pic's. Looks like Kershaw is doing the numbered series???
Bet the blade is really sweet w/o the ST. Recurve?? I agree -- a real winner and worth the wait.

Dex

You get all the cool toys.

If you get tired of it I'll retire it next to my custom Whisper. Mine doesn't have the valt lock as it's a few years old.

Burt - the Whisper is a limited production item from Kershaw since there is a lot of machining going on with this one knife.

Dwight - I'll straight up trade you! :D BTW - your title has me LMAO!!

Mitch - yes, all of them are. This is a limited production piece from Kershaw as there is a lot of work going into each one.

After all the work Kershaw has gone through to get this knife perfect I'm really happy they're doing this as a numbered series. :) I remember seeing a proto of this at Ken's shop two years ago. This is just a testimate to Kershaw and Ken's determination to make sure the product is 100% on the money before letting anything out of the factory. Thumbs up to Kershaw and Ken!!!

I think I'll keep mine for a while longer. I do like that production knife though.

The wife and I were behind the TUTU incident at blade a couple of years ago. I'd post a pic but they are still on photopoint. :barf: Maybe someone else has one saved.

I know...I was there with you when Spark donned his frilly duds :D FRankly, that was a Blade Show moment that I am trying so desperately to push into the dark, dark corners of my mind :p LMAO!

Hi Dexter

At the sort of price they seem to be at is it fair to compare it to a small Sebenza?

How do you rate it against the sebie at first glance?
