nic knives, although i am partial to smaller knives, i do like them both.
now, for comparisions...
the NV has a shiny blade, the x-ray is satin.
the NV is quite a bit tighter and harder for the blade to open than the x-ray.
the x-ray will open with a flick of the wrist when holding the lock "open", the NV is not opening unless you use the thumb stud(the x-ray is 100% times smoother. i assume the NV will loosen up with usage and after a "break-in" period.
the NV "feels" quite a bit heavier, but it is bigger.
the handles on the NV is a bit nicer than the x-ray and has a better non slip grip feel to them.
all in all, i like the mini x-ray better(if only the handles were the same as the NV and the blade had the polished look
.
these are only my opinions of these knives. both are quality and have a good feel to them.
after being a faithfull follower of cold steel for years, i am finally purchasing other brands and finding that the cold steel knives are not all they are advertised as being(although i do like the tanto series)
UPDATE!
i just loosened the "tightness" on the NV a bit and it is now as smooth as the x-ray
i wish the mini x-ray knives had the same handles as the NV and a polished "straight" blade as an option. any future plans?
