I went to a gun and knife show here in Indiana, called the indy 1500. I saw lots of cool knives and guns and had a great time.

I saw a bk 9 and was like "ohh yess" I picked it up to look at it and feel it. I saw the price tag said 225. I was thinking maybe $22.50 bucks and was thinking "hey, I better get this". I got my money out and the lady I was going to pay said that price tag is $255. I couldn't believe it lol... I had seen them on amazon for around 70 bucks. I just said good luck selling it and walked away. What a let down lol.

Might of been a Camillus.
Since Camillus blades are no longer made, some folks think they're gold.
"Out of production" usually adds a few $$.

Now at least you know what they look like.

Yeah, both have the extended pommel. That's part of the "combat" in Combat Bowie, I suppose.
Top knife in both pics is the Ka-Bar version. The Camillus BK-9 was a touch thicker.

Wow thanks for the pics. After seeing them, it hit me. What caught my eye in the first place was the BKT Ka-bar indention on the knife. It had to have been a Ka-bar. The thing was huge nonetheless, it was awesome.

Well, the Camillus has a similar sort of blade stamp. It just doesn't show up quite as well in that pic.
You won't go wrong either way, but the Ka-Bar is going to be a heckuva lot cheaper.

The Camillus blade stamp shows up better in this pic I have a of BK10.

Oh, and I found some more comparison pics I forgot I had...

Ohhh, you know what.. I shouldnt have doubted you. It probably was made by Camillus. I just saw that BKT part, sorry to doubt you, and thanks :P

Hey, it could have been either one. Both have BK&T on them.
However, they are a little different. All the Camillus versions had the model name of the knife.

Therefore the Camillus one reads:
BK&T COMBAT BOWIE
Camillus, NY USA

But the Ka-Bar version reads:
BK&T KA-BAR
OLEAN, NY USA

On the opposite side, the Camillus version would be blank, whereas the Ka-Bar version would have a strong "BK-9" stamp.

Oh, you know what lol.. after changing my mind several times, this may be it. I know it really doesnt matter what one it was lol. I cant really tell the difference between a bk-7 and a bk-9, so I had looked on it, and I saw the bk-9 stamp in it. We finally solved it lol, it was a Ka-Bar!

An insanely overpriced one! Maybe that dealer saw some Camillus prices from fleaBay and thought she'd found a golden nugget. :p

$225? Man, that is crazy. Call up one of 100 dealers and get you one delivered for $95. Whoa, even a Camillus isn't worth that much, I think. Some collectors might pay that, but for a knife I'm gonna use, and pay $225 for, will be custom bushcraft blade or something. Whew, dodged a Collectors bullet, me thinks.

Love those BK9's, and I'm constantly suprised by the thickness, comparison.

Hey, just to complete the thread, here's another comparison shot, this time Camillus on top, and Ka-Bar on bottom. Note too, as a general rule, the finish on the Ka-Bars is smoother.

I just bought a camillus BK9 at the big west coast show here in april. He was asking $90 but took $80. Had the wrong sheath but the knife was new. Sold it to a friend.

Which means he probably paid $50. Or less. The deals are out there. You just have to find them.
I tracked down a Camillus BK-5 once on a whisper of a hint in a WS&S post.
Finagled my way to some intel on a little mom and pop shop in North Carolina and got a great deal on it.
No telling how long it had been sitting in their display case.

Here's a good shot of the Camillus stamping. Oh, and I think it's safe to say that the finish on my Camillus is smoother than on the Ka-Bars. LOL (J/K Guyon, I know what you meant.)

The Camillus is quite a bit thicker, so I guess it's heavier. I think it also has a full tang, without the cutouts.
