Finally seen, a 408 Kalinga Pro

Well, I got to play around with a 408 Kalinga Pro last night. I have waited a long time to see this knife and I must say I was not disappointed. Very nice heft to the knife. It’s big. The pivot pin has a torx nut that can be loosened off very easily. It came reefed down tight to get across the border but the blade is heavy enough that once it is loosened off it becomes a first class flick knife. There are thumb studs but a little adjustment and you will never need them. Gravity will open this knife with just a flick of the wrist. I should point out that this is illegal in Canada. Gravity knives are too sexy for Canadians. We can’t handle this kind of showy deployment. All I can say is it’s a good thing it didn’t have brass knuckles attached or it would be obviously illegal and I would not be able to carry it openly. :p

Hi Will,

Thanks for the report. I still have not been able to handle one yet :(......Did you buy it????

I think you are actually referring to the folding model, which is a 419 if it has brass bolsters and a wood handle. The rubber handled forler is the 415.

The 408 is the S30V/brass guard/wood handled fixed blade.

Anyhow, I'm glad to hear you like it. We'd like to see some pics when you get it!! - Jim

I'm sorry if it seems like I have flooded every thread that has to do with the new Kalinga 419 but I just got mine yesterday and I am so taken with it that I have to show it off. Buck has a real winner with this new knife. It is as well built and as perfectly beautiful as any production knife I have ever owned.

NY Marksman, how is the lock-up on the Kalinga?.Is the liner lock well made and thick enough. The liners on the original Buck-Striders were thick and well made.

The lock up is rock solid with no blade play once locked. The liner locking bar measured about 3/64th's thick and the liners are beautifully polished solid brass that measure a tad over 1/16th of an inch thick. This is a truly beautiful and well built knife that feels just right in my hand.
