I found this one on the exchange and deliberated and discussed with the seller for an hour - hemming and hawing all the while - too long, too expensive, geez it's a beauty, what about the EVO steel - on and on - but finally good sense prevailed and I bought this PERFECT EDC -

The Shirogorov F3
~ Steel Cronidur30 EVO, Black G10 handle ~

I just love everything about it and so I share with you all - :D

• It is a flipper that flips as it should - no stick, fast deployment from any position using either hand. A one handed opener (and closer) that works so very well.

• The blade is 95mm - just a very bit shy of 3-3/4" - borderline too big but still in the sweet spot of between 3-1/2" and 3 3/4".

• Sharpens up beautifully - slices ever so slick.

• Fit in the hand is exactly right - no hot spots, good heft - the awesome sculptured clip is never in the way.

• The G-10 scales are sculptured too. Really beautifully done and very effective to enhance grip and play down the signs of use. I so much prefer this to an all Ti knife or to the carbon fiber versions.

• Here is a detail of the sculptured clip. They even flatted out a spot in the G-10 to receive the clip and to allow it to slide into a pocket. Beautiful isn't it :)

In summary - what is there not to like? Even as a "starter" Shirogorov it exceeds all my desires in a knife that I carry and use every day.

Большое спасибо

I generally prefer frame locks, and have a blue/carbon inlay 95, and a blue/green carbon twill Hati-R, but I'm almost always carrying my g10 F3, strange that. Boy does it feel good in the hand, and my best friend, who I turned on to Shirogorov's just received his first, a green micarta yesterday. Haven't had a chance to handle it yet. F3's rock.

That's a beauty and great pics, I too love the Shiro's but my preferred carry blade is 3.25" so I carry the Neon. Sure wish they made that exact knife in 3.25" or close to it. I really love the Russian made knifes but they all seem to be at least 3.75" or longer I just don't need that much blade for a EDC.

Just came over from Liking your knife over at The Bears' Den to admire your F3 pics here, Ray. That's one sweet knife, man! Love the texturing on the G10.

I've got a nice cross-section of serial Shiros--F3 Python Micarta, 111CF, Tabargan with custom marble CF, Turtle, and G10 Hati, which are all in M390 save for the Python which is S30V. Like crossdaddy, I'm maybe more a framelock guy--lately, anyway--but there's something about the F3 that keeps me coming back. That knife sure does feel great in hand, the linerlock provides foolproof operation, and my Python just keeps slithering back into my pocket more than the other Shiros, regardless of their "better" steel.

Before I entered this thread I figured this knife was gonna look like some zt or something, but this knife isn't ugly at all.
I'm not into flippers or anything, but this knife is certainly nice looking.

I've got flippers going back to a very early Darrell Ralph AXD, and a good few more since then. But I wasn't especially "into" flippers, that all changed when I got my Shirogorov's, because of the action on them, I'm into flippers in a big way,my favorite method of deployment, bar none. And Shirogorov's in particular, has ruined me for other knives, which is ok, because I've got a lot of them. Just not enough Shiro's, only 4so far.

I have lots of other great knives that I still use and love, but my Shiros are definitely high-bar-setters when it comes to new acquisitions.

I'm glad for all your various enthusiasms for this knife and the Shiros . That Python Micarta is exceptional too ChazzyP - very nice but I'm not going to get swayed to look at others  - at least for the time being. I really really like my G-10 version. It ain't no ZT that's for sure.

Cheers, Ray

Your right Ray, these shiro's will spoil you on other knifes!!

The feel in the hand of the F3 is great.. still haven't own one but played with a few before.
My edc F95 is not gonna like hearing me say this but if having to hold and work with a knife for extended period--I certainly root for the F3. :)

There has been an orange version of the black one above on the exchange this week.
More than I paid for mine  but "new" and looking good.

Still - very happy with mine. I hardly think about it as I carry and use it but then I find that I take it out just to handle it and look and flip and heft and I smile all over again.

Yea, I do the same, have to take it out of my pocket, look at it and then flip it a few times. I carry my Shiros far more than any of my other knives, (I have quite a few) although today I'm rock'n a Southard Tolk.

Looks like I need to come back and re-post the photos.
Later this week then...
