Finally! Utility is on the way!

I finally found a Utility. My knife collection is centered around the "Pairs of knives from one manufacturer/maker" theory, and I've been trying to get a Utility to go with my Carnivore for some time now. Copfish was kind enough to sell me his, and after re-reading the spec's on this knife, I'm impressed again! 154CM, Birdsong Black-T finish, and cool multi-position kydex sheath, at a price that can't be beat! I'm still wondering why REKAT decided to stop production on this useful little knife.

Paul,

A bunch of us try to convince BobT/REKAT to reconsider. Search for the threads on REKAt neck knife. So far, no luck.

Right now, though, the newcomer, "Running Dog, is producing some nice neck utility knives with great MCS, at good prices. I like these as much as the REKAT's. Check them out.

What? Just as I decide that the Utility might be what I'm looking for in a neck knife, I hear that they're being discontinuted?

Gosh darn it!

But while I'm thinking about them, could someone clue me in on what the edge grind is on the Utility? (I'm not so keen on chisel grind, so if you tell me that's what the Utility has I won't feel so bad about it!)

CK,

Guess you'll just have to kick yourself for being late.

Both the Fang and Utility are hollow grind.

PT, you know the Utility that is on the way to you has a multi-carry sheath too... used, but not abused! I would also look at the Running Dog BG-42 Pup! Nice small utility neck knife.

Molly,

There's a thread in Review Forum. Scroll down. But given your antipathy (I think I remember reading) towards chisel grind, it may not be what you're interested in. ALthough Running Dog's pup is not really a pure chisel grind. There is a secondary bevel on the "flat side" which allows the knife to cut straighter, IMO. I hate chisel grind overall but like the running dog pup.

Sing,

You have a good memory. I asked about the chisel grind FIO - I had a chance to purchase an Emerson CQC7. From what I've seen of blades so far, I prefer hollow ground. Especially the grinding job on my new Dozier Ti folder (what a little beauty it is).

Thanks

Molly

The Utility is here!! What a cool little knife! Copfish put on a shaving sharp edge before sending it to me

and I really like the MCS sheath too. This knife is well named; it will serve many purposes, from defensive carry, general utility carry, camping/backpacking (lashed onto pack) and even neck knife, although my La Griffe fills that role perfectly. The serrations on the spine are a nice touch too. Thanks, Copfish!
