Kept seeing Sebenza popping up in a lot of posts and started thinking it was a blade I should look into. A recent thread in the General section about the Sebenza versus Alias got my interested piqued even more.

Spent the entire weekend messing with my various Kershaws, Benchmades and Spydercos and researching the Sebbie and the Alias. Since my birthday is this month I figured a special treat was in order, (over and above my usual knife buying habit) so a few minutes ago I made up my mind and popped for a Large 21 from knifecenter.com.

Based on past experience it should be here tomorrow or Wednesday. I usually find myself getting a little excited about a new purchase but right now I'd say I've entered a whole new level of purchase anticipation.

From what I've read I'm pretty sure I'm going to be very pleased with my birthday gift. ;)

I think you will be happy as well. I was. Good thing is, if it isn't for you, it can be resold real fast. Make sure you post some pics and impressions when you get her:)

WooHoo!!

Just got my tracking number, she'll be here tomorrow!! Guess I can forget about sleepin tonight.

Congrats!! You'll love your first Sebbie! I've used a "Web Site" Sebbie for about a year now. I can't bring myself to carry anything else.

UPS says it's "Out for delivery"!!!!!!

Feeling kind of ill, maybe I should take this afternoon off ;)

You're getting the easy treatment... ...my Small Sebenza African Blackwood was withheld from further shipping at Dutch Customs. Since it's now illegal to import knives into my Christian-Socialist (yes that exists) run country, I was trembling with fear by day 8. Then, finally... ...they didn't open the box (with "Camping Tool" on it) but just scr*wed me with import duties and handling cost. Alltogether, I still paid only half of what a Sebbie costs in a Dutch B&M store...

You'll love it to bits! After all the hype I read on the web on Sebbies, I still was sceptical. But let me tell you this - it IS *THAT* good. :D

Mine was a birthday present for myself, by myself, too!

OK. Not the best photos but here goes.

Sweet, Congrats! -Wait and see how much you like it after you own it while! :D

Shine a bright light between the slabs on the back end.
You'll see a Letter and Number. That's the run of the year your slabs were made.
(Some minor help in ID'ing the knife if needed).
Mine is C 99 , going on 10 years already..

Mine reads

A 09

Wonder is A equates to January? The certificate with it is dated 7/15/09

Awesome knife. Does anyone know if it is possible to order a 21 with silver lugs and spacer? I love the shape of the classic 21 but not so much the writting on the back slab.

The A, B, C refers to the lot or batch run of slabs made in the
year number that follows the letter. "A 09" would be the first
batch of slabs made in 2009, though not exactly which month.

The certificate date is the final assembly date of the knife.

If we see "A 09" slabs on knives with cerficate dates of 2010,
we can assume 2009 was a rough year.. or they made a bunch of slabs.

The 21 is virtually identical only better IMHO, than the Classic 2000.
The 21 has a little more chamfering in the front end and no letters on back.
Yes you can order one with slver lugs/spacers, give them a call.
