Finally a knife that is worthy.of the name Al Mar. Knife center has them and it's about time someone has done something good under this banner. The last few knives offered with the Mar name were terrible. What do you think?
When it comes to posting pics and.links I'm quite happily ignorant. If any would be so kind, please! THANK YOU and Merry Christmas to all!!!
James

I agree they don’t look too bad.

I don't see how these are Al Mar knives, other than they may have been made using a sketch that Al Mar may or may not have done many years ago.....
In fact, according to the Nemesis website these are not Al Mar knives in any way and there is no association at all with that brand, other than the use of the Al Mar name to promote sales that is...
we want to make it clear that there is absolutely no affiliation between Nemesis Knives, the Mar Private Reserve, or these designs, and Al Mar Knives, Inc. Al Mar Knives, Inc. does not offer or endorse these designs in any way.

al Mar is dead so by your logic nothing produced now should be considered an al mar knife.

Al Mar is a trade mark used on knives carrying the Al Mar name, and is used by the people that own the rights to use that name. These Nemesis knives don't have any real association or affiliation with the genuine Al Mar brand except to exploit the name. The guy who runs Nemesis bought some old designs that may have been drawn by Al Mar years ago and designed some knives based on those drawings, that doesn't mean they are Al Mar knives.

If you think/say so.
What makes that name so "good" or "better" than any other brand, with the possible/probable exception of "Frost Cutlery"?

Why pay "X" dollars more for a name?

From the pictures, I sure would not want one.
I can think of several knives that will do everything these can, cost a lot less, and in my opinion, look better, too.
The Ontario RAT 1, and Buck 110/112, for example.

If I was going to buy a knife that had the Al Mar name associated with it, it would be a real Al Mar like this one....

Yep, this. My only Al Mar is a Fang II. There are a few others I'd like to get, but the prices are crazy.

Now thats an Al Mar! The first "high dollar" knife I ever bought was that model (if that's about 2 3/4" closed), without the scrimshaw. Bought it in a small bicycle shop around 1980 for about $40. Heck of a slicer, had it about a year or so, then lost it. It still bums me out.

Thanks for this thread. I'll carry my S.L.B. today. Inquiring minds can Bing it for the pic.

That one is about 4" long. I believe it was called the Falcon. There was four with this design I think. The next smaller model was the Hawk, the smallest was the Osprey, the largest model was the Eagle. Made in Japan by G. Sakai at that time.
