It only took 45 days, but Cumberland Knife Works FINALLY delivered my rc-4 yesterday... I am amazed at the fit, finish, and value you get for your money with Rowen manufactured RAT knives. This knife is vastly superior in every way to the Ontario RAT's that I own (and loved)... this is my first non Ontario RAT, but I it certainly won't be my last!

Come on RC-5 Sere and Neck knife!!!!

:p

Contrats on the RAT!

The RC-4 consistantly impresses me. I think it will be the flagship of the line.

Just got mine yesterday too-also from Cumberland. It seems like you are enjoying your as much as I am mine!

Yep, until we introduce the RC-3 in uncoated VG-10 steel. :D

Oh...did I forget to tell everyone...we're thinking about doing the RC-3 in a VG-10 with a bead blast finish. Working on the material side of things now so there are no guarantees since the material is being sourced in Japan. And before anyone says anything, VG-10 is not available as a raw product in the US so it has to come from overseas . And before anyone pops off about the finish, handle color, sheath color, blah, blah, blah...oh well I won't even say what we're going to do because no matter what we decide to do there will be no less than 400,000 replies with something other than what we're going to do and what makes economical sense :D

Here's #1 :eek::
How about cocobolo scales and specify in the heat treat to not remove scale. Then when the blades come in with the scale on them from the heat treat, just scrub them a little with a scotch brite pad (NOT a SB wheel on a grinder). This will give it a patina-looking finish. Then give it a leather-wrapped kydex sheath (best of both worlds) with a pouch that will fit a Diafold, and a loop on the spine for a firesteel.

Oh yeah, and make it an RC-4. :eek:

Give it that old-timey feel, with modern quality.

And don't listen to Tony about orange scales.

Yeah, I know, I'm a bastard. :D:D

Sounds Beautiful. The Japan thing kinda sucks but hey, gotta do what you gotta do. To bad Jerry won't give a line on some low cost INFI :cool: (contridiction in terms). I just hope the RC-3 remains a nice deep bellied Full Flat grind. Dont much care for the Sabers.

We have no plans on changing anything about the way the RC-3 is ground. Not sure where you got that idea from?????? Sometimes I wonder if the posts I make are in an alien language and mis-interpreted. :D :D

No no, I was just so used to the FF grind on all the RAT line, then the SERE came along with SG. Not sure what changes are coming with your constant teasing :confused::D

I understand now. The SERE was designed by USAF SERE instructors around our handles.
