got to break in my SJTAC.
I've owned it for ever it seems and have been saving it for hunting season to give it it's first use. It wasn't bad waiting until the sheath came from Rainwalker then it just got painful.
Well after a total of 6 cold nights staying in these lovely accommodations.
I finally saw a deer.
I was about to throw in the towel for the MN gun season, it was 10 minutes to 5pm. I was looking to the north and was about ready to put my sling on my gun and get down when I hear something coming from the east and fast.
When I looked over I was really surprised to lay my eye's on this buck and got more excited the closer he came. He got within 15 yards of the stand and headed due north giving me my chance to get the rifle up and then was kind enough to stop just before the wood line to see what was moving in the tree, BANG.
He made 3 leaps and I heard him pile up.
I knew it was a solid shot so I put my sling on and waited a bit, got down and went looking, no deer.
I looked in the oak scrub for a half hour or so kicking myself for not having my Surefire 6P and started back to the shack to get it. When I got on the logging road there he was, didn't even have to drag him, backed a truck right up to him thanks to a couple great guys named Ritch and Dick and drove him the half mile back to the shack.
The SJTAC worked out great, a bit bigger then I'm used to for field dressing put I've got the thing so sharp it was a breeze and now that it's had a proper break in I look forward field use with it now.
A couple of the buck and I.
His unofficial score is 135 4/8". At his base he has a circumference of 6 3/8", beefy.
I'm leaving Friday for WI with four tags in my pocket and a Meaner waiting for it's fair ups.
Thanks for looking.
