Congrats! I know it's a good feeling after waiting so long.

Hope you really enjoy them!

lucky, i have 2 to wait for
the #12-9" blade , I ordered from nordic knives, I have another 18 months to wait.

the #2 8" blade I have to wait til 2012 since I ordered from the factory. really funny, I visted the factory, but NO KNIVES for sale! LOL. you gotta wait 5 years.

this one I bought off of ebay. you really pay a premium for instant gratification!

It's amazing on the waiting list time. But Randall won't be compromised. I love this company of knifemakers. Someday, and hopefully not, some future grandson will figure out a way to meet demand and ruin the whole thing. BTW, that is one sweet dagger you got there. Look at the difference in guards

the wait time blew my mind. I said in disbelief "5 years??" and i thought "that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard".
then I said "SIGN ME UP, I WANT ONE, YES I'll WAIT!!

I actually asked an employee why they just don't hire a few more people.
they said they had trouble finding craftsmen who really wanted to stay in and learn the trade.
i don't think you have to compromise at all. I think they could hire a few more guys and reduce the wait time.

That is the compromise. Randall isn't going to lower their apprentice standards to meet demand. That's why they are something in-between a production knife manufacturer and a custom knife maker. If they really wanted to meet demand they would be up there listed in the "manufacturer" forums and not the "collector" forums. Like I mentioned above, someday an heir will want to bring in production meeting demand and that will be the end of "Randall Made Knives" as we know it. The next step would be to export production and then later sell off the name and seeing Randall knives in hardware stores and Smokey Mountain Knife Works.

I think you got a good price on that stiletto on the auction site. If you can get a new one through a 3rd party seller for about $100 to $150 above the factory price than you're doing pretty good.

After some delays (Not Randall's fault - it were those stupid a$$ losers of moth$%^@#$!%%(strong language edited out) customs handlers).

But, after waiting since februari 2004, my Randall knives have FINALLY arrived! I am a happy man.

Kind regards,

Jos

Congrates, I know it's a long wait but I hear it's worth it. I have until 2012 until I take delivery on a model 19 I ordered last year.

I've got another year or so for my Model 14 to arrive. The wait is so long that I can only justify this blade as a safe queen.

Heya guys, you might be interested to know that you can order Randalls through AG Russell also. Not just their standard offerings either. They will custom order one for you from Randall, and their orders get quite a bit of priority. I ordered an optioned-out model 14 from AG and had it in my hands in less than 4 months. By comparison, I ordered two Randalls through Nordic Knives (a Combat Companion and a Gambler) and it took 25 months to get them. Plus I had to pay sales tax since I live in California (Blah!). All three cost more than buying straight from Randall, but it didn't take 5 years.

I agree about ordering from Mr. Russell. I ordered a Mod 14 about 3 weeks before Christmas 2007 and I had it the 2nd week in January.

They are a good company to deal with.

"The next step would be to export production and then later sell off the name and seeing Randall knives in hardware stores and Smokey Mountain Knife Works." Culpeper Quote.

Actually about 4 years ago I was in Smokey Mountain Knife Works and they had several Randalls for sale. There was a Bowles(sp?) scrimshaw for a very fair price tried to convince the better half to let Me purchase for a safe queen , no sale> Tried to convince her that I could buy and sell on Ebay for a tidy profit still no sale. Don't know about the others they had but they would have been comparable to Ebay prices at the time> Boy I wish I had bought that scrimshaw In 4 Years I could have doubled My money although I would have tried to keep it as a Heirloom. About $750.00 for the Scrimshaw at the time if I remember corretly

I travel for work and when I am traveling up I-75 or I-81 or I-40 I always seem to visit SMKW. I enjoy looking at the displays and immediately head to the right hand side of the store where the old Case, Ka-Bar, Marbles, Boker, and Randalls are located. Sometimes you can get lucky and other times you can not. But I can not think of a single visit when I did not get something.

Last trip I picked up a Gransford Bruks hatchet, but sure would have liked to have gotten another Randall.

I really like that dagger!

+1000 gotta totally agree Sgt, that dagger is a real beauty ! Going to have to add one of those at some point!

Jos; congrats on that #2 what a voluptuous blade ! That #1 is quite a beaut as well, we've got one very similar to it and love it.

And some impressions:

Really happy with these. Nicely finished, my name etched on the reverse side. Comfortable in hand. After hearing/reading all those horror stories about "thrown together" and "badly finished" Randalls, I'm happy to say that my 2 specimens prove those stories wrong.

Kind regards,

Jos

Jos those are great! Congrats on receipt!! Well worth the wait. We looked over all our Randall's and couldn't find one that had been 'thrown together' either.

Enjoy 'em!
