finaly i have ordered my first khukuri knife:) i chosed the 22 inch ganga ram special:) what do you guys think about it? some one have some pictures of it at work:) i hope this will be a good knife here in the norwegian woods:) thanks

For me personally; I think a 15" - 18" size is better. If a 22" fits your physique then it should be a good first Khuk.

I love mine:)

I purchased one from Uncle Bill years ago to help clean up my mom's property after a huge wind storm downed a lot of trees. I chopped until I had blisters, but the GRS kept on going.

If you want to "see" one in action, read Monster Hunter International:D

does some one have some pictures or info of the ganga ram that you could post?
im trying to find out as mutch as posible about it :)

thanks

If I were to guess, the spine is going to be about 1/2 inch thick at the base and taper to the front. going to be a bruiser for sure.

ok. thats beafy :) enny recomandations on how to make a oliven green nylon sheath? sew nylon around the standard scabbard ? or make a soft one? hmm. wanna make the thing have a little survival look :P

I had Terry Sisco make a cover for my M-43 sheath last summer in green canvas. The cover is held on by pressure of the 'frog' against the body of the sheath. I don't think Terry is in business anymore, but others may make covers for you.

This video is not mine, but is representative of what can be dne quickly with 550 cord...

I've recently taken the cover off and wrapped the sheath in black para-cord, around 30ft. worth. It took me about 20 minutes.

yea:) thats what im talking about, great sheath!! shouldnt be to hard making a cover :) is nylon or canvas the best material?

CONGRATULATIONS !!!

You chose the perfect knife for YOU.

You will live happily ever after with, especially if you read the safety thread once you hold the blade in your hand.

Respect it, and it will serve you faithfully. :)

P.S. on the sheath cover...piece of cake. Find the cover cloth you want, wrap it around the existing sheath out of the frog (belt holder),Mark it, use barge cement or the like to fit the cover to itself in the right shape, slip it over the leather, and put it back in the frog. No sewing, and will last ages. no need to affix it to the leather sheath.

i allmost cant wait:P yes i have readen the safety thread:) i have readen everything on these sites and the HI pages manny times now for a cupple of months :) but doesent find so mutch info on the ganga ram as i want? does it havea a fuller in its blade?
sorry for the bad english, im norwegian:P eller norsk..:)
and i think the sheath will not be enny problem, is the buffalo leather a good leather? would some wax, shoe pollish or leather balm make a it waterproof?

Welcome Boerboel84!,

I'm not sure about the effekt product, as noone has tried it.
Generally you keep the scabbard looking nice with black liquid shoe polish.
If you want to waterproof it, i would try the spray that you put on boots for that purpose. Yes, water buffalo leather is tough stuff. It keeps the buffalo together just fine and theyre an ornery animal.
Don't worry about your english, you're doing just fine.

Karda,
you might want to toss this little gem from Kismet into the FAQ or links along with a picture,

In the short time I've been here I've tried, unsuccessfully, to answer how to make one about 4 times. Or I can actually do it and take pictures then post that link.
I think I'm going to do this over the weekend, I just had a really neat idea for what I am going to do. Hint it has to do with an old pair of jeans;)
