Finding a New Blade

Hey guys,
I have recently been looking for a new edc/camping knife, and I can't decide between the Doug Ritter RSK Mk1, the Spyderco Paramilitary 2, or the Manix 2. I would like a longer blade, around 3.5", and under $150. The main things that I am worried about with my current contenders are the handle scales on the RSK, the blade shape of the PM2 (seems a bit fragile), and the weight of the Manix. I go on pretty long and hardcore canoe trips, so the knife needs to have good edge retention, toughness, durability, and resistance to corrosion. I would definately look at other options besides these three knives, so please offer any insight!

I would say the Manix 2. I bought mine for $90 two years ago and still serves as my hard use/EDC. If size and weight are issues for you, consider the Manix 2 XL or the Manix 2 Lightweight models.

Personally I would prefer a fixed blade for any outdoor/woodland activities that might require fire prep and any unforseen situations mainly because a folder folds sometimes at the wrong time

What do you guys think of the Native 5 G10? I know that lockbacks aren't as strong, but it still looks great, and is quite lighter than the manix. I am also looking at the Manix 2 lightweight in dark blue with s110v steel. A friend has a brand new one that he would be willing to sell for $100!
P.S. jfk1110 I know that fixed blades are stronger, but I need something that I can use as an edc too.

Pick the one that feels the best in your hand. All will do a bang-up job and are easier to haul around the woods than a fixed blade.

The blade of the PM2 isn't as fragile as it looks in pictures. I would trust mine as a camping knife.

In my opinion, Paramilitary 2, hands down. Locks up real strong, retains a hell of an edge, feels great, and the Spyder hole is awesome. You should have no problems with the blade, it's very strong. There are some issues with the tip coming off but that won't happen so long as you use the knife as a knife and not as a pry bar.

Personal bias aside, the Manix 2 is tough as nails and like a tank. If you want a knife that can take a beating, the Manix is your guy.

Wouldn't know about the Ritter, but it seems like a great knife. You may want to look at the ZT 0350.

Whichever feels best to you. I love the PM2 but all the others are great as well.

Why not compromise a bit and get the Manix 2 Lightweight? You can get it in BD1 or S110V and it seems to address all your other concerns.

Not picking on you, but this comes up often online.

I have been playing in the New England woods for going on 38 years. I never knew I 'needed' a knife, or saw, axe, 'hawk, ..etc to prep, start, feed a fire untill I started reading online forums.

Maybe I am just blessed with Birch bark, punk wood, and deadfall but a knife isn't all that important to me for fire. A Zippo is nice though. :)

Sorry to the OP for possible thread drift.

But really the PM2 will work just fine.

My PM2 with my F1 ( my outdoors knife for the past seven years)

PM2's blade seems fragile? LOL
Check out YouTube vids on the PM2 doing bushcraft tasks.

As already mentioned, any of the 3 will work for you, go with the one that firs you best.

For another tough 'camp' folder option, check out the Cold Steel Recon 1 in either clip point or drop point.
