Hi,
i have recentaly been searching for bali's on the internet and why cant i find any thing i like for less then 100 (my price range) when i go to Clay's site and the Suggested Retail is so much less then what i can find them as. I have been talking to someone on the net and they seem to find a new one every couple of days.

Yea , thats a nice one , did you notice there is 6 days left on that item? Anyways there is too much competetion at ebay .

all it really takes is timing, patience, persistance, creativity, and cash.

Oh yeah, a computer with internet access helps.

Ok heres my method.

First, I check for auctions for butterflys on ebay. Then I place a bid. Then I immediately email the seller. Ebay has kind of put a stop to this, by not actually giving out the email address, and using sort of a messenger service. Too many people are using other peoples emails for their own devious purposes. I usually explain that I am the high bidder on their knife, and that ebay has been known to pull auctions for butterfly knives with blades over 2". I explain that if this happens, to please contact me.
Using ebays messinger service, it doesn't automatically send your email address, so include that. If (when) ebay pulls the auction, and if they contact you, you usually have to name your offer.

I have acquired 10 nice balis this way in just a couple of months.

My wife says that I need to quit buying knives for a while, so I'll post my "secrets".
If ebay pulls the auction, there is no way to get the sellers email address. There is also no feedback, since ebay made the rule that all feedback must be item related.

Just to let you all know, I'm done driving up all the prices on balisongs for a while, so go nuts!!

If you keep a list of the sellers for items which you are interested, you can at least contact the seller by going to "search" and then "find members."

Your best bet is to use something like webferret, that uses mulitple web search engines. By the time you go though and check out over 100 leads, you will be wore out for the day. Someone should grab the best links and put them together for us on their web site. I have found cataloges on the web for Japan, Korean, Italian, Spanish, German, Taiwan, China, & Filipino butterfly knives, but so far I can not find any place to buy them from Japan and Korea, but you never know what you can find, tell you look. sniping program ,whats that , i think i was sniped the other day , i was out bid by about 1 second then my browser started f*&^ing up.

Hey SGTP,

Which "minty valor"?
the only one I got was a Samuari Warrior, and that one went for the full auction. No where in the ad did it mention the words "balisong" of "butterfly".
I was the only bidder on it. came with a box too.
I don't use any auction sniping program to automatically up your bid at the last minute. if I raise my bid at the last minute, it's because I'm watching it.
But that won't matter any more, because any new auctions that come up are free game for you all. I'll "borrow" pictures for my collection, but until my wife finds another job, my knife budget just got consolidated into our utilities budget.

I don't have any sniping program set up right now, but if I were going to do any bidding on Ebay, that would be the only way for me to do it. I do not stand a chance of winning anything, unless I go in and bid at the last min. I think when people see all the feedbacks I have and see me bidding on something, they figure I must know what I am doing and so they start to bid on it. It's not hard to outbid me either, sense I am not really a very high bidder. Thanks, JohnR7 www.BalisongKnife.com

420,
yeah, thats the one Im talking about. It was one of the few times a decent bali lasts through to the end. I tried to snipe that one with is snipe program but it didnt go through. You lucked out and got it way below market value, hope you like it.
Lately theres been an increase in the number of quality bali's on ebay, lots of competition too. I wish I was able to snage one of those 2 taylor manila folders that showed up on ebay this past week. There're on the to of my wanted list....
